Walked around the gardens, saw the cacao trees at their various stages, and got to sample some amazing chocolates, with detailed explanations throughout the process. On our last day, came back to buy another box of chocolate. Was delicious.

... or if you are french and really into cacao but don't know anything about it yet, and adult travelling without kids. Otherwise you'd probably enjoy you're time more somewhere else.

We loved La Maison du Cacao. The tour was in both French and English. The gardens are beautiful and we got to taste cacao in multiple forms and stages of refinement, all fascinating. They sell wonderful chocolate, this afternoon I drank a cup of Gwo Kako made from the chocolate I bought there mixed per their directions with sugar and... More

A memorable visit. The young lady who made the presentation was truly knowledgeable, and passionate about the subject. She answered every one of our many questions-in English-and the tasting at the end was fascinating.

We regret going to this place. Very unfriendly staff! Not an interesting tour. Also they kept speaking french even though we told them at the beginning we don't know any french. At the end, one of the staff laughed at me for not being able to read a sign which are only in French (all signs around the garden or... More

Wonderful way of learning about chocolate, in a nice setting and with friendly staff. The tasting menu is very informative and there are products for purchase as well. The only small downside is (for a non-fluent french speaker) oit's tough to keep up at times.

Presentations are given every 1/2 hour, so there is time to visit the surrounding gardens before learning about chocolate making. The presentation we attended was excellent. We especially appreciated the instructor's willingness to answer our questions in English (she would have done the entire presentation in two languages but we did not want others to have to wait for her... An interesting hour or 2 diversion from the crowded beaches. Found it to be informative (and available in English too - a relative rarity here) and the tastings of the various cacao content percentages was quite good. Had to buy some on the way out too of course!

Just south of Plage Caribe (a great beach) La Maison du Cacao is about a 1 hour visit with an interesting and informative display on cocoa beans. It takes about a half hour to tour the grounds, then the final demonstration takes about 30 minutes. Younger kids will probably get bored quickly, but for older kids and adults, it's a... More
