We had originally planned to stay in the Sky Bubble for stargazing, but the weather did not cooperate at all and we ended up in the Sky Cabin for two nights instead. Despite not being able to see any stars (a hurricane coming up the coast left the sky a solid white wall of clouds and persistent low fog) we had a really good time. The cabin was cozy, the owners were very kind and helpful hosts, and I enjoyed sitting out on the cabin porch reading and listening to the different birds in the area.
About a week before our arrival, we got an email about a partnership with Wild Roots, a restaurant a little ways away that uses locally sourced ingredients. We decided to pre-order the picnic basket option #2, and it was such a great decision! After a long couple day of traveling and a pretty choppy ferry ride from Maine, there was a tasty, convenient dinner waiting for us. The quinoa bowls were hearty without being super heavy in the heat, and the dips were exceptional. All I had to do was call the restaurant with my credit card, and Tim & the Deep Sky Eye team took care of picking it up and making sure it was there when we arrived.
Honestly, even though I'd been really hype for the stargazing, I was not too disappointed when we left. We had a great stay, and I almost wish we had stayed longer to take more advantage of other amenities on the property instead of the day trip we'd planned for our second day in NS. We'll definitely be back and fingers crossed for better weather next time.

We were incredibly inspired by Tim's story and in awe of the educational and exciting project he's building at Deep Sky. Everything was perfect thanks to Amanda and Tim's generosity. Our only regret was not staying there longer! We will definitely be back and will spread the word.

If you are a night sky enthusiast, this is a don't miss experience. First there was a slide show, then viewing through telescopes. The entire event was outdoors. Tim and Amanda, both legally blind BTW, had zero-gravity chairs and blankets set up for the slide show, which thankfully was on a dark background to preserve night vision. Tim is very knowledgeable and does a good job of explaining things to a lay person. 3 telescopes were set up in the field for viewing. There is a separate outhouse. The observatory itself is quite small and was constructed by Tim, his brother and father using their own funds. Most of the equipment was donated. We didn't view anything through the telescope in the observatory. Tim deserves the support of the amateur astronomy community. If your GPS tells you to take either Canaan Road or Wilson Road, find an alternate route. Those roads were unpaved, dark, rutted, and had just a smattering of houses. My GPS cut out and there was no cell service. Try to stick to the paved roads.

We had an absolute wonderful time during our 7 day road trip to the East Coast. This place was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint at all. Tim (host) was very accommodating and helpful. He was quite knowledgeable about the topic (astronomy), gave a wonderful presentation and allowed us to tour his observatory after the moon and star gazing session. His own story was quite inspiring (even my kids were amazed). The bubble tent with the see-through roof was an amazing experience. It was surprisingly very comfortable and the view of the night sky from bed was breathtaking, as we even saw shooting stars in the night. We were so glad that we were able to secure one for our stay (thanks to Tim and Amanda again). The facilities overall were very clean and well maintained. I truly wish we had stayed longer and enjoy the property, the surrounding areas and the amenities and activities on site. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to see the night sky and stars.

The experience was wonderful and Tim was very knowledgeable. We also got to see a presentation and some amazing pictures. There was a bit of fog but we did have some breaks in the sky to see the stars. We stayed in the Family sky dome for the night and my kids loved it. Would definitely recommend!

A review in haiku from me to you
Tim is amazing
Learned so much and stay was great
Can't wait 'til next year
What an amazing experience! Tim and Amanda are excellent hosts and the night sky program was absolutely amazing... and we went with full cloud cover
Can't wait to try for clear skies next year, but no matter what this is so worth it!

This is a not to be missed Nova Scotia experience. Deep Sky Eye is sharing, teaching and preserving a unique look into the night sky. We had a cloudy night and STILL came away with a great experience. The cabin is comfortable and well stocked, the grounds are private and there are things for the whole family to do.

We had a wonderful time glamping in the family sky bubble. We got lucky and had totally clear skies — the views of the night sky were spectacular!! Everything is carefully and lovingly maintained, and there are lots of thoughtful extras—kayaks, fire pits, outdoor games, etc. Tim was so welcoming and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Tim was incredibly informative and gracious. The sky was overcast for our stay but we had a blast anyway! Our little family of 4 really enjoyed the family sky bubble and the informative tour given by Tim! Muffins in the morning was an unexpected treat! Kayaks were available to use in the nearby cute little river, bathroom had flushing toilets and a working shower. Tims attention to detail was incredible with wifi in the bubble, soft lighting inside, bottles of water at the ready, and even a can of bug spray! We felt blessed to have had the opportunity to stay here. We very highly recommend Deep Sky Eye to everyone!

While Mother Nature did not want to cooperate and show us the sky, we had an incredible visit with Tim and Amanda. We were the only guests for the evening so we got a personal tour of Tim's telescopes and the observatory. He gave us so much time and information about the observatory and how he became involved not only with astronomy, but how he works to preserve the surrounding area's dark skies so others can come to know the stars the way that he does. We left with a deep sense of meeting someone who has not only discovered his passion but also someone who is committed to sharing it with others. As a bonus, we stayed in one of the Sky Bubbles, an experience that was beyond expectations. Every little detail of the Bubble and facilities at Deep Sky Eye were immaculate and designed to please guests. Even before we left I was trying to figure out how and when to come back.
