- 1957Ottawa, Canada827 contributionsGreat learning Experience..Part of our Gate 1 tour, we visited this candle store. Part of our visit, we learned from start to finish how they make their candles. The candles have different colours, different patterns and shapes. What a learning experience it was . Then walking through the store and buying many shaped candles ( elephants, rhinos, lions, giraffes etc) The area is surrounded by different shops and many markets.Visited October 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 5, 2023
- moraira846 contributionsAn opportunity to buy !This is a quite large tourist shopping area. The candles are the lead shop, as they put on a continuous display of how they make the candles The other dozen or more shops are selling the usual "souvenirs" that you get anywhere in Africa, and are of dubious provenance It seems a long way to go to buy candles - in fact these do sell on ebay ! My feeling is that this is one of those "day tour" places that give tourists "an opportunity to buy"Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten December 4, 2023

A great stop while in the Ezulwini region. Lots of shops and souvenirs on offer. The candles are very well made and make excellent gifts. You can interact with the craftsmen and the resident cats! Don't skip the other shops as there are some gems.

Swazi Candles in Swaziland is a great coffee stop in the Ezulwini Valley and a well known tourist attraction for many years - all the candle-art is made on the premises and you may look while the artists work on the unique wax creations - they support a number of upliftmend programmes locally...
For sure a UNIQUE stop…

This is a "must see and stop" location for any visit to Swaziland - aside from the famous handmade candles , they have many other artisans (eg Bao Batik, Rosecraft scarves, wood carving)
A group of Canadian friends and I gone to Africa 4 times and we always make a point a stopping here to shop for souvenirs and gifts for friends

Don't let the "Candles" throw you.....there is lots more here than just candles. The crafts are fabulous with many talented artists creating in lots of mediums. The food at the cafe is some of the best I had on my trip to Southern Africa. The quiche was fabulous.

This is a fascinating place to pop in and visit. Talented fingers work the wax into the shapes of animals, flowers and beautiful patterns. So pretty that you don't want to burn these candles! :)

You won't see these candles anywhere else. Beautiful work and they show you how it's done. Traditional candles as well as African wildlife. Some purchases go towards preservation of animals.

Great place to get Swazi souvenirs without any hassle, you can watch live how the candles are made or explore the other shops with some nice quality products like bamboo fabrics or even local rum & gin
