About
Morgado do Quintao is one of the oldest vineyards in the Algarve and focus exclusively in growing premium wines from indigenous grape varieties, like the region's famous Negramole. The large estate was founded by the count of Silves in the early 1800's and is still in the possession of the family. We welcome guests who are passionate about food & wine.

Excellent tour, wines & tapas in beautiful location. Guide was knowledgeable & very passionate about his subject, a coup
Excellent tour, wine & tapas in beautiful location, with a very knowledgeable, passionate guide. Small producer but nice selection of wines, particularly the red/white rose & the light red (chilled & excellent with it). Sampling & tapas took place in grounds of establishment, a really nice setting.

    Fabulous farmer’s table lunch
Lovely afternoon at Morgado today. Food was plentiful and delicious. All food allergies catered for. Wine was lovely and very generous. Beautiful setting , despite the weather trying to spoil it!

    Amazing Winery
Beautiful surroundings. Amazing tasting and charcuterie . Everyone was so informative, knowledgeable and friendly. So happy that we were able to experience this amazing family run business. I highly recommend this tour to everyone who wants to witness a little bit of Portuguese life.

    Beautiful vineyard, delicious wine
We booked on for a stag do for 9 people (though this is apparently very unusual for the winery, so don’t be put off, this isn’t a rowdy place at all). We arrived and had a wander about the beautiful grounds, then had a glass of wine and some starters. This was followed by lots of different wines, all delicious, and a good fresh meal. Laura the hostess was absolutely excellent. I think some of our group might be in love with her now. She was able to manage an increasingly enthusiastic group and explained about the vineyard and grapes with enough knowledge for the few amongst our group with expertise. I highly recommend visiting the vineyard, we had a great time.

I stayed in the main house for 7-nights for a yoga retreat. Whilst the yoga, yoga space & house wine were beautiful, the main house accommodation, facilities fell well short of the mark & price tag & the catering was very disappointing. The location was still a construction site, so drilling, angle grinders, workmen etc were omnipresent & not in keeping with a retreat. Similarly the staff are not service orientated (happy to clatter around a meditation session) & the food was shocking (no lovely array of dishes, fresh bread, fruit & cakes, the focus on veg/juices meant that the meals weren’t balanced or filling & everything was rationed). Similarly the linen was poor quality & insufficient for an active stay & was rationed. The tap water was not potable, yet water wasn’t provided & we had to buy our own
& there was no drinks station. Most of the participants bought food at the local supermarket to supplement the meals.

I had extremely high expectations, but I can only give one star for the landscape and view, and zero stars for the service and overall experience. Firstly, we didn't make a reservation in advance, hoping to join a group spontaneously. The first thing we heard from the staff member was that they were fully booked, delivered without any smile or warmth.

Then, we decided to try their wine and were offered a table under an olive tree, which was quite charming. However, when I inquired about bread or snacks to accompany the wine (as we had purchased two bottles), they provided us with plain bread, as if we were birds. It struck me as odd that a winery with such a supposedly "high" level (as mentioned in reputable magazines and boasting 15k followers on Instagram) did not offer olives, pâté, or even butter to enhance the tasting experience.

To make matters worse, the dinner for guests who had made reservations began, and we were abruptly asked to vacate our table under the olive tree and relocate elsewhere. We were deeply disappointed by this disrespectful treatment and decided to leave immediately.

I sincerely hope that your experience at this winery turns out better, but this is how our day at the winery unfolded.

Can’t fault the setting, it is beautiful. I booked the Farmer’s Table for me and my new hubby. Food was very tasty and quality cannot be faulted. As much as the wine is not to our taste from the vineyard, we enjoyed the pairing with the food.

However is it worth the money? Probably not, they serve the food to the table but the servings are to be shared, self-serve style, which can lead to uneven portions. Luckily we sat with a considerate family of 3 but this may not be the luck for everyone.
Also word of warning, due to the seating plan (this does not exist) we were sat opposite each other which was fine, but if you don’t get to the table quick enough, you could be separated.

Overall a nice experience but I would change the following:
1. An additional wine; add a pre-starter wine with another dish or a dessert wine at the end.
2. Offer each customer their own dish, rather than self serve.
3. Consider table sizes based on bookings.

I was in the Algarve around the time of the harvest with my family and friends - we got to spend the day harvesting grapes, eating, drinking, learning to cook, and they surprised us with a trip to stomp the grapes, too! It was PURE magic. If you're in Portugal, this is a MUST DO. PERIOD.

Had a delightful experience at Morgado do Quintao! The lunch was scrumptious, and the wine tasting was exceptional. The beautiful setting, under a 2000 years old olive tree, added to the charm. The host was wonderful and gave us the history of the vineyard, which made the experience even more enjoyable !

This was an excellent experience; I thoroughly enjoyed visiting Morgado Do Quintão!

From the beginning, until the end. Our host was wonderful and provided a great overview of the wines and the estate.

We chose the Farmers Table experience and it was lovely. The wine's were really nice and the food just kept coming and was very tasty! We sat on a long table with other guests, which is a great concept, so we managed to make new friends and share different stories and experiences, which was great!

The weather was perfect, which really helped and was a surprise for January. The sun was blazing, we enjoyed great wine, good food and received a great presentation of the wine's from our wonderful host....what more could we want?! I definitely recommend this experience!

Unfortunately our Uber driver was unable to find the venue to pick us up, but our host, kindly assisted by speaking with the driver and then calling a local taxi company to collect us - she definitely went the extra mile with her customer service and we really appreciated it. The delay in leaving allowed us to experience the wonderful sunset from the estate, which was lovely!

Thank you Morgado Do Quintão...
We'll definitely be back!

Basic houses that could be nice, if they were looked after by people who cared.

Bedrooms stank of cigarette smoke. There had been smoking right up to our arrival. (cigarette burns in the coffee table too). We had a 6 month old and any parent will know how risky this is: NHS in the UK advise that any kind of stale smoke creates a risk of cot death. If you have young children, would you expose them to that risk?

No hot water. No one could fix it or tell us when it would be working.

A bee infestation in the pool. We were told ‘this is rural Portugal’ and normal. We were also told they were ‘friendly’ bees, so that’s OK.

The kitchen was a disaster. Pots, plates and pans were covered in food and un-clean. Appliances were wired in with power wires on the hob. Major fire risk.

Staff agreed the place wasn’t safe. Asked for a refund so we could go. The manager (a word I use loosely) was un-interested as she had no authority, it was all down to the ‘difficult’ owner (her words) in Lisbon. He called, told us we were exaggerating (from 300km away) and refused a refund.

After 5 hours the staff were watching TV so we gave up, left and paid for a hotel.

We got 40% of our cost back via Booking.com (useless), leaving us 450 euros down. The owner refused to refund the 125 euro cleaning fee, a fee for a house we didn’t stay in and wasn’t clean to start with.

That tells you all you need to know about this place and how it’s run.

Most worrying is the disregard for safety. Good luck if you stay.

MdQ has welcomed +1,000 people this year and as noted the overwhelming majority have provided really great reviews. To those guests we are very proud that we delivered a wonderful and meaningful experience. Sometimes a guest has a different expectation than the one that we offer. We always listen to those concerns in order to help us get even better. Thanks.

Based on the great reviews and pictures on Trip Advisor I decided to book the tour including snacks. The estate is beautiful and the table was placed under this impressive tree. There were several salads and some sausage and cheese. Portions weren't huge, but ok ( it is not a substitute for lunch). We got 3 wines ( white, rose, red). There was also a short explanation about the wines.
At other wine tastings, I always got a free refill offered, but here it was strictly barely a half full glass ( no need to get an Uber). There was also a short tour of the estate and vineyard.
Normally, the host at a wine tasting can't wait to tell about the wines and the estate/brand but this time there was unfortunately not a real conversation about it.
I liked it there but I wouldn't book it again.

Very disappointing. Three wines sampled, which amounted to no more than just a taste. Food was minimal, and the sweet was considered to be from the local supermarket. Definitely not worth 55eu.
