We visited three times, and had three different experiences. The first time, late May, we did a 4 hour hike around the large flat valley floor. It was a sensational experience, walking through acres and acres of wildflowers, buttercups, daisies, wild pansies, miniature daffodil and tulips and heaps of other varieties. All against a backdrop of snow capped mountains, and... More

The pictures of this place don't do it justice. This whole area of meadows---with their palette of wildflowers---will take your breath away. But husbands/boyfriends be forewarned: your wife/girlfriend will not let you leave until they take hundreds of pictures...

This high plain in the center of the Sibillini mountains is best known for its little castle town AND for the flower fields that blossom in June and July mostly. You can reach it driving up into the mountains from the medieval town of Norcia, or from the other side via Visso ! We tend to go there on our... More

A beautiful place in the mountains, splendid views from a fairy tale. I loved the flower fields of different colours - the whole place looks like a mosaic of colours in a soft dim umbrian light. Worth a car trip!!

It's so different from the surrounding regions, a lush green valley. Apart from the fairytale town of Castelluccio in the center of the valley there are no buildings, and you'll be looking at a patchwork of flower fields, beautiful hills, mountains and rocks. Plan your trip so that you will see the valley in the late midday/early afternoon and enjoy... More

During the drive up to Castelluccio you wouldnàt expect to find such a place. It is such a different landscape! I recommend to go during the flower period, the valley gets all these colors and with good weather you can also go hiking. I was there in the middle of july and picked the worst day to go but still... More

Indeed, the heaven seems so near as you climb up and up with your car. Then behind the last hill your view widens spectacularly into the Piano Grande and its scarce landscape. Even in late July we still got carpets of flowers across the plains - how magnificent must it be in full blossom! It is definitely worth any detour... More

This area is so beautiful you will not believe it until you really see it! Take care to visit when the fields are at their best with stripes in alle colours, which is usually in the first half or in the middle of July. But even before this the fields are beautiful in yellow, green and some pink!
