About
The statue of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde overlooks the city of Volvic on the Puy de la Bannière at an altitude of 733 meters. Built in 1861, by the Departmental School of Architecture of Volvic, this statue is 5m50 high and is entirely made of Pierre de Volvic (volcanic stone). She stretches her arms towards the city in a sign of protection. To access it, a Way of the Cross climbs to the statue from the historic center. Otherwise, two other paths take you there either from the Grotte de la Pierre or from the Château de Tournoël.
