everything was perfect except for the return of the vehicle! The owner was completely overwhelmed by the fact that we hadn't put enough gas in to refuel!! She made a return trip to the garage 12km away to put in a $9 worth of gas that was missing from the FULL (Find the mistake) and added it to my credit card!!!

Merci tout d’abord de nous faire part de vos impressions.
Lorsqu’on loue un véhicule, le plein d’essence est fait au maximum et on doit le rendre plein également au retour. On prend soin aussi de faire signer une feuille de consignes à l’arrivée des clients pour informer d’ailleurs ceux qui sont moins familiers avec les locations pour éviter ce genre de situation. On ne peut pas simplement mettre l’essence « qu’on pense » avoir utilisé mais plutôt celle qu’on a réellement utilisée. Si vous avez fait le plein mais avez voyagé une demi journée avec l’auto par la suite, même si l’aiguille n’a pas bougé beaucoup, le niveau d’essence à l’intérieur du réservoir, lui a baissé. Effectuer le plein d’essence au retour du véhicule est avant tout une question de respect, tant pour l’entreprise qui loue des véhicules que pour le client qui vous suit. Ce n’est pas à ce dernier à absorber les frais de l’essence que vous avez utilisé ni à nous d’ailleurs.
Un client qui ne fait pas son plein au retour du véhicule nous met d’ailleurs dans le pétrin puisqu’il y a peu de temps entre le retour du véhicule et son départ pour un prochain client. Donc, qu’un employé doive partir sur une heure de vol faire le plein qu’un client n’a pas fait, c’est effectivement problématique.
De plus, 9$ est le coût réel à la pompe qui manquait dans le réservoir. Tel qu’il est stipulé au contrat, les frais sont normalement de 3.25$/litre comme pour la majorité des locateurs automobiles. Il vous a été chargé au coût réel. Il est donc tout à fait normal et justifié que vous payez l’essence que vous avez utilisé.
Nous sommes sincèrement désolés que cela vous ait froissé mais il s’agit de la base du respect d’autrui dont ce n’est guère notre rôle d’enseigner aux visiteurs.

Don't expect the legendary welcome reception of the Islands.... very authoritarian service, no courtesy, no flexibility... I will do business with Leblanc location next time.

Nous sommes navrés de lire vos impressions à l’égard de notre entreprise et nous en sommes désolés si votre expérience n’a pas été à la hauteur de vos attentes. En lisant aussi votre commentaire fait auprès de la compagnie aérienne, nous en devinons que votre commentaire chez nous est en lien avec un retard dans votre vol de départ.
Il faut savoir que lorsqu’une compagnie de location de voiture est complète, qu’il n’y a plus de véhicules disponibles, que ce soit nous ou n’importe laquelle sur la planète, nous ne pouvons malheureusement pas permettre à des clients d’extensionner en cas de retard de vol. En effet, même si le vol de Pascan est annulé ou retardé, les autres compagnies peuvent entrer aux îles et nous nous devons d’honorer les réservations de ceux qui viennent après vous. Si nous aurions permis au client vous précédant de conserver son véhicule en raison de son vol retardé et qu’à votre arrivée à vous, le véhicule réservé n’aurait pas été disponible, vous auriez été fâchée et avec raison car nous n’aurions pas honorer votre contrat avec vous malgré un engagement financier de votre part. Nous ne faisons évidemment pas exprès pour laisser des gens à pied en cas d’annulation de leur vol et quand nous pouvons extensionner cela nous fait évidemment plaisir de le faire mais nous n’avons pas le choix de respecter et d’honorer nos réservations existantes. C’est d’abord et avant tout une question de respect pour l’ensemble de nos clients.
Nous ne pouvons malheureusement pas nous porter garant des nombreux changements que peuvent avoir les compagnies aériennes comme on le vit dans les dernières années. Nous sommes sur une île; nous ne pouvons pas inventer des véhicules, quand il y en a plus, il n’y en a plus. Nous sommes persuadés que c’est le même cas pour l’ensemble de nos compétiteurs aux îles comme ailleurs.
Nous n’accepterons pas un chantage d’un client qui ne veut pas remettre son véhicule. Nous comprenons parfaitement que ça désorganise un client une annulation ou un retard de vol, imaginez nous lorsque nous en avons 130 simultanément qui arrivent et repartent, ça nous désorganise assez rapidement! Nous en sommes donc vraiment désolés que nos disponibilités ne nous ont pas permis de vous prolonger.

Very bad service. Ok, I get the short staff idea, but still. They knew we were coming to pick ul a car at a specific location, they did not have the car at the right location so we had to wait over half an hour for the car. Then, we ask when we being back the car can we be driven back to our camp site and they say they will see. On their site and pamphlets, they offer the service to be driven back. But when we do end up brining it back, earlier on top of that so someone can drive us back, but no. We had to take a taxi. Luckily that taxi service was impeccable. But never again will I deal with this place. Not even a smile during the time we are there either and no sorry for making us wait and having to take a taxi… Worst service I have had in a while!

I rented a car in April for my 7 days July trip and had to cancel car rental less than 24 hours after rental.
I was charged a deposit (More than a full day). And lost the deposit completely. They didn’t agree to refund.
It is clear that that were able to rent the car between April and July.
Bad business!!!

We are first sorry for your unsatisfaction.
We are effectively taking a non-refundable deposit at the time of the reservation to confirm it, same as the CTMA ferry, accomodation and plane tickets because we are located in very small area with a very high demand compared to the realistic possible offer. We import cars on the archipelago for a short period of time and we need guarantee that custommers really do travel before giving the opportunity to book one of them.
When we do a reservation with a custommer, we also engage some fees (reservation fees, transaction fees for the charges taking on a credit card and same for a refund.
We do have a refund policy in a case of sickness or death of a closed family member, respecting some delays before the pick up date. It is unfortunately non-refundable if the custommer decide to cancel for another reason (decide to bring his own car on the ferry, to rent somewhere else, to choose another destination or way of transportation). When availibilities allows, we also offer the opportunity to open a file and keep an hold on a car for 24-48hrs before giving the deposit.
Hope these explanations will help you to understand our position.

The best car rental company EVER ! I'am travelling very often for my company and i've never seen a good and quick service like that; a thing soooo much appreciated when you arrive at 11pm! The first time with them but not the last!

This business used to be under the Hertz banner and they followed the typical car rental guidelines which was great. They went independent and now require a 30% non-refundable, non-transferable, non-changeable deposit. My guests bumped their visit to my place by 1 week so I lost $180 overnight on the deposit - three and a half months out. The company completely books all their inventory in the summer so they won't have any problem re-renting this vehicle. Their policy just enables them to cash in for no apparent reason.
Because of the low inventory and high demand on the Islands, you need to book early but if your plans alter at all, you'll be out lots of money!! They give new meaning to "highway robery".

First of all, Thank you to take the time to give us your impressions of our business. We effectively used to be an Hertz licensee for over 15 years. We always had the same way of doing all our operations, even when we were an international banner. You also have to know that all renters in Magdalen Islands are taking non refundable deposit to guarantee their bookings during the high season. It is not OUR way to do business, it is THE way to do it by all the renters.
As you may know, we are located in a small area, in the middle of st lawrences gulf so we do have more difficulties to have cars then the big cities. When we import cars on the Magdalen Islands at excessive cost for a short period of time to accomodate visitors as you during the high season, we need guarantees that people are going to travel. It is why people cannot book if they are not giving the non refundable deposit. Houses/hotels/cabines/ferry also take non refundable deposit and you know when you cancel that you are going to loose that money. Information of non refundable deposit is also clear and well explicated on our website www.agencedelocationdesiles.com and custommer know before to complete their booking about that deposit. Our cancellation policy containts accomodations for people who as to cancel for sickness or death reasons. But otherwise, if you just change your mine, it is effectively non refundable.

Dépendamment de votre besoin et de la durée du séjour, vous pouvez opter pour une location de scooter 2 passagers (si vous avez déjà une certaine expérience dans ce type de conduite) ou encore simplement orienter votre choix vers une location de voiture à partir de l'aéroport. Pour de plus amples informations sur nos types de location et les tarifications, vous pouvez communiquer avec nous par téléphone et par courriel en nous mentionnant vos besoins et les dates du déplacement. Pour la période estivale, il s'agit du bon moment pour réserver présentement car la demande est très élevée pour les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, avec un nombre limité de véhicules.
