we stayed at Puluong retreat and took day bike tour of the hotel to some villages, rice field and took the bamboo boat along the river.

Pu Luong Nature reserve is so so beautiful, the rice field, waterwheel, bamboo forest and the local Thai people make it so special. Tourism is coming here, Lodges, local homestay are available to stay. Road is being built and help a lots for travelers.

Took a several hour trek throughout villages, rice paddies, hills with amazing views and fantastic photo opportunities! Amazing to see village life and how hard everyone is working to support their families.

Yes I think you should definitely get a guide, especially if you’re traveling with kids. It’s rural and doesn’t have clearly marked trails like parks in the us.

My friend and I made our own way there and didn’t do a tour. Many people ride motorbikes to get there. My life rule is no tours ever! Enjoy- it’s amazing

You do not say where your starting point is. But assuming it is Hanoi, it is easy. Just ask your hotel and they will show you the options. There are group tours of some 20-25 people in a bus, or there are smaller tours... More
