I did not know about this place, saw a sign while heading to Gros Morne National Park. The sign looked brand new and well designed, it really drew my attention for some reason. We decided to drop in and check it out. My 14 and 17 year old sons really enjoyed it. Very good condition and everything was well presented. The salmon colored tarantula scared the heck out of me. Visited August 13th, 2020.

Wonderful location. We stopped there on our way back home even with the current times we live in right now this place welcomed use with great information and safety measures. To keep us safe while enjoying what they had to offer. A must check out place.

Great place

Visit the Insectarium during COVID. Although we couldn't interact with the insects we had no trouble getting the butterfly to land on us in the butterfly house.

It was an excellent learning experience. Highly recommend.

We love this place. The bugs make me shudder but looking at the bee hive and ant farm are our favourite. We just missed the butterflies but they should be there by 10 July. Highly recommend. To the owners/operators - Great enterprise, thank you for putting so much effort into it! 😀

surprised to find
Aug. 2019
Our stop at the Insectarium was unplanned but quite wonderful.
There were literally thousands of live and mounted insects. One of the highlights was watching butterflies hatch from their cocoon.
You could walk through an area filled with butterflies of all types , then go to another room to view all types of insects and a beehive that was amazing .
All in all a great stop, they have a well stocked gift shop as well for all things insect.

Amazing

Loved the live bee hive exhibit, the staff are so knowledgeable and make this a 5 star experience. Observed butterflies develop than they are moved to the butterfly room. Lots of creepy spiders, cool bugs, beetles and live leaf cutting ant display. Plan for at least hours to not be disappointed.

Quite a Treasure

My wife & I visited the Insectarium today. We were greeted by the owner, who provided a brief explanation of their facilities. We first entered the butterfly section. Lots flying around. Too many varieties to count. Pretty awesome. Then there were the displays of various bugs, insects, spiders etc. It was awesome! Weston, the interpreter, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and quite a pleasure to listen too. We’d recommend visiting Insectarium, you won’t be disappointed.

An Eye Opening Adventure For All

My two year old, husband and I visited the Newfoundland Insectarium yesterday on our travels and we were very pleased with the knowledgeable, informative staff, wide array of live and preserved insects and the BUTTERFLY GARDEN (the highlight for myself!). I was also very happy to see the bee hive where you can see through glass and through a tunnel the hustle and bustle of the bee life and the leaf cutter ant display where you could see the whole activity of these amazing creatures ! Highly recommended !
