This will hopefully in the future be a really good place to visit, it needs the access to be finished & some signs. At the moment (even though I did) it’s better not to visit but to wait …

Some day, according to the attendant who was kind enough to serve me and my guide coffee and dates, there will be an interpretation center and much more information developed about this site. Today is not that day. Getting to the site is treacherous (we had to park at the bottom of the rubble strewn hill and walk up), there are no markings or information. If you are hard core for seeing these ancient monuments, then by all means go. If not, I think I would take a pass until the site is more developed.

Truely incredible to have this UNESCO site all to ourselves. Bit tricky to find but it was a great add-on after a beautiful day at Wadi Shab.

Down point of Oman trip. Nothing worth the drive. I am a history person, but this is a great let down. Please don't waste that one hour.

...then stop in to have a look, but otherwise give it a miss as it’s technically closed right now so visitors can’t really get too close and there’s no information there to speak of whatsoever. Saying that though, it’s still an impressive structure to behold if you do make the effort of driving over and wandering up.

Miriam Bibi’s tomb is currently lying desolate but is of great historical importance. Archeological department has declared it a heritage site and has started making it into a tourist spot. Steep climb at least 100-150meters, but worth it, to feel the ancient historical ambience of ancient Middle East. Very few people find it as part of their Oman tour. Be the first few to visit.

While you are coming from Sur, you need to stop at this place. Historical venue with some great history behind. Relaxing place with sea at the background.

If you love camping in wilderness and want to enjoy nature up close and personal, this is the place to set up your camp. Secluded, complete privacy, pebble beach potruding in the sea and great views of blue turquoise water.

It is one of the most spectacular locations to be found along the coast stretching between Muscat and Sur, an area rich in history and heritage sites.

Read up about Bibi Maryam - there are multiple versions of her story, but all have an inspirational tone to her. The Mausoleum is visible from the main road without going down if you don't wish to. But do read up about her and what she did for the inhabitants, especially the children.
