We visited this winery on a wet and blustery afternoon. Despite this we were made to feel very welcome. The gentleman doing the tasting was extremely entertaining and knowledgeable. He explained the history of the winery, the name change from Wollaston to Matua and the grapes, harvest etc. Wine is a very personal thing and the wines were not for... More

We stopped here randomly on our way to Muriwai beach. Great food, wine and company. Will be a great place in a couple of months when renovations are complete (fyi owners: very hard to find on Trip Advisor and not called the current name of The Hunting Lodge on Trip Advisor...)

Visited here I a Saturday evening. There was live music on and it was a great environment and visit. The wine was really nice and reasonably priced and the setting was outstanding. The pizza on site was good to. Great visit.

The first visit, the servers were swamped catering to a large crowd off a cruise ship. They still managed to take care of us. The second visit was more private, as we had hoped. Great wines, many of which can't be purchased overseas. Sorry to hear they are moving everything to the South Island.

Took the kids and met some friends there. Got to play some garden cricket as well. Platters were good and very well priced, so we're the 2 bottles Of wine. They even allow dogs which was nice for those with well behaved pets.

Visited the winery this week and was very impressed with the wines and the service. The top shelf wines were really good although fairly pricey , our host was pleasant and knowledgable and would recommend a visit .

On the plus side this is the only vineyeard we found tasting $50 per bottle wines, which were excellent, but alas a little out of our proce range. Staff were very welcoming and we did leave with 2 bottles of their excellent squealing pig range. While we did not try the food the platters on offer and the atmosphere looked... More

The lady conducting the tasting was extremely informative and knew her stuff. my mum and I were convinced on buying a white wine even though we are red drinkers..it was that good. They offer a great shipping system for overseas even though we decided not... More

As we were passing we stopped to have a look and a glass of wine. A very pleasant experience with food available and wine reasonabley priced by the glass. Will definitely come back when we have more time.
