About
Drenched in fog most of the year, this lighthouse is one of the foggiest in the country, and is a great whale-watching spot in the fall and spring.

If you make it back from all the stairs you’ll think, “that was awesome.” The light is now automated, I can’t imagine being the keeper beforehand...yikes.

At the end of July we got to the parking lot, put on all the extra clothes we brought with us because we knew it was going to be cold. Rhode Islanders aren’t used to 50 degrees with the wind chill in July!! It was...More

Lately, the lighthouse access has been by shuttle only. Just too many people heading out that way these days for the iconic view along the beach, the wind swept cypress trees, a chance to see migrating whales or to get a glimpse of what it...More

Pick a day without the marine layer and visit one of the California landmarks. High on a bluff over the ocean. Look for a whale and ponder the treachery of navigation in this raw landscape. Don't miss it.

Confession: The stairs down looked like more than I could handle, so I enjoyed the views from the platform at the top. Even there it was beautiful. It was nice and cool, too. There was a lot of interesting information available and plenty of employees...More

You could use a scooter from the parking lot to the visitor center but not down to the lighthouse. You will be able to see it if the fog allies from the visitor center area.
