Best tropical flowers we’ve seen and a really nice garden and restaurant and gift shop. Lovely staff members. We wandered about for ages going up and down all the paths. Also great of the coast

A lovely, colorful, peaceful garden with lots of interesting plants and little walkways to explore. Also a friendly arriving with COVID measures in place . We really enjoyed the experience. Currently open weekdays only for tourists.

Richard Coghlan was a dear friend of my parents in the 1960s in Barbados. They always said he was a brilliant landscape gardener. Would love to visit the flower forest one day. It sounds magical.

Piece of heaven

Really amazed by the flowers growing in this quaint garden, most impressive must have been the 'beefsteak' plant. We had the place for ourselves since not many visitors were there and we loved it. The lady running the place was so warm and chatty, we felt like staying there all day!

The beautiful Gardens
Aug. 2020
An excellent experience at the Gardens. The variety of the flower and fauna was amazing and the views overlooking the Parish were quite spectacular. Noting that many tourist locations in Barbados are only starting to open or are partially opened due to ongoing COVID challenges (as of mid August) I think this a must see as one of places that have opened up. It is also about a 5-10min drive from Welshman Hall Gully and Harrison's Cave so you can bundle a view trips together. To note at the time of visiting (mid August) the restaurant and gift shop was closed. Apparently very good and reasonably priced so if open give a try. David (Owner/Manager) was also kind enough to give us a lift to the Gardens when he saw us walking to the Gardens and a lift back to the coast when he saw us leaving th Gardens. A really top experience.

Truly lovely gardens - wonderful views down to the east coast
Mar. 2020
We got here about 10am after a c 45 minute car journey from Needham's Point. The turn off road to Flower Forest can be a challenge - not the best and you keep everything crossed that you don't meet anything coming in the opposite direction.
A reasonable sized car park - entrance is BD$30 -about £12.50 - standard for Barbados..

These gardens/forest are well maintained with good paths and wonderful views of the east coast. The gardens are quite up and down but some really lovely trees and shrubs. We spent c 90 minutes looking round before having a magnum ice cream on the attractive cafe terrace. You can get soft drinks and I think a beer as well as snacks. There is a well stocked but expensive shop.

Overall a great and very enjoyable experience and if you have time the fantastic Hunte's Gardens is only a few miles away.

Hidden gem
Feb. 2020
This is a lovely, natural garden with an interesting trail around it. It is hidden away and our taxi driver had never visited it before - even he was impressed. As well as the peaceful atmosphere and lively plants, there is an excellent restaurant- the best we found at any attraction we visited.

NB some literature has this down as wheelchair accessible when only the restaurant and verandah is.

Forest with a few flowers depending on time of year for your visit.
Feb. 2020
This was a nice forest to walk through, sometimes seeing blooming flowers or flowering trees, depending on the time you visit. Nice trails, medium complexities. This area is far from the regular tourist hotels by taxi. Taxi fee was $110 round trip on back roads. It took an hour easy one way to get there.
They have a small gift shop with some pottery for sale, and a limited food and beverage menu while there in the cafe with average prices for food. The staff are friendly and helpful.
It was overall, pricey for the time and distance traveled for the enjoyment obtained.

Very friendly welcoming staff. Gardens are well tended and have a wide range of exotic flowers.

Enjoyed a stroll through the gardens before having an enjoyable lunch on the terrace. Very peaceful and relaxing surroundings.

Stunningly gorgeous, handicap accessible but challenging
Feb. 2020 • Friends
The Flower Forest is a stunningly gorgeous tropical rainforest/botanical garden. The garden features a main paved path that winds along the hillside through a beautiful tropical forest with smaller paving stone paths off the main route. There is a terrific lookout across the island to the east coast of Barbados, and a lovely gazebo in a forest meadow. The plants are well-marked and healthy and well-tended. There are lovely pottery works scattered throughout. The gift shop features all locally made goods: Earthworks pottery, hand printed tea towels, children’s books, small wood crafts, sweets and sauces. The staff are kind and helpful. We had a lovely lunch (flying fish, chicken roti, salad) sitting on the deck overlooking the forest and watching the banaquits, Carib grackles, finches, doves, etc.

The Flower Forest website highlights handicap accessibility and marks the main path as wheelchair accessible. This was a main draw for us because my mom needs a wheelchair for moderate distances. Many of the gardens in Barbados have stairs and narrow or uneven paths. So we were grateful to be able to take her to this beautiful place. However, it is important to know that it is not easily accessible. The main path is paved but has some spots that are uneven or broken. In addition the path winds down fairly steeply in places with out a curb or railing. And the climb at the end was fairly substantial and I was grateful to have a friend to help get the chair up the hill. If mom had come with her walker she would have been very limited in what she could manage to see.

That being said, we had an absolutely lovely time and this really is a treasure!
