When travelling to Hunza from Gilgit, on Karakoram Highway lies the worlds 27th highest peak, The Rakaposhi. And the Rakaposhi viewpoint is the remarkable spot to sit in the shadow of Rakaposhi. From this spot, the complete aspect of the mountain, along with its peak is clearly visible. Thither is a restaurant, tuck shop and gems & handicraft shop. Cold and clear water is flowing from the glacier, we sit along the stream to enjoy this marvellous place. Drinking tea or coffee at this place gives an astonishing experience, with your feet dipped in the cold water of the glacier. This place is also excellent for capturing photographs, so remember to bring your camera and take lots of photographs. This place is a must visit for those travelling toward Hunza Vallery.

Apparently the highest single slop in the world (see signpost image). Food/facilities available. It is amazing to think about avalanches coming so far from the mountain. Search for "Rakaposhi avalance" on youtube to see how scary this beautiful place can be!

Rakaposhi view point in Gilgit, with clear ice cold water stream coming from glacier & falling into Gilgit river. One can do wadu from the running stream & pray by the side on one of the natural pray area, a large rock with flat top.
Rakaposhi is a mountain in the Karakoram mountain range in Pakistan. It is situated in the middle of Nagar Valley Nagar District and Danyore and Bagrote valley approximately 100 km north of Gilgit of the semi autonomous. Rakaposhi means "Snow Covered" in the local language. It is ranked 27th highest in the world and 12th highest in Pakistan, but it is more popular for its beauty than its rank.

Beautiful snow covered Rakaposhi peak peaking through the clouds and snow shining with sunlight is a breath taking view. Clean fresh and cold water stream from the glacier makes it even better. There is a small cafe which serves hot herbal teas. You can sit and enjoy the beautiful view while sipping your hot cup of tea. Feels like heaven on earth!

We were lucky to visit when the sky was without clouds. We could see the top of Rakaposhi and take great pictures. Walk up and closer a bit to avoid photos with electrical wires. Gift shops her negotiate prices. Lunch there is quite tasty. Or just order a cup of milk tea.

It was a view point now it is a carnival of colored lights, food, tea, and maybe a future chairlift to the base camp. Development at any cost, but what about that view?

I stopped at the Rakaposhi View Point to have breakfast on my way out from Hunza. It's about an hours drive from Hunza. You can see the Rakaposhi peak mountain, a 7788 meter-high peak, which is the 27th highest mountain on Earth but considered one of the most beautiful ones. The view from here is stunning as I sat here waiting for the breakfast. The cold water splasing from the melted glacier of the Rakaposhi Mountain falls into the Gilgit river. A number of shops are on both sides. The breakfast was fresh and tasty. Bought trinkets and fridge magnets from the souvenir shop. It had a lot of variety . Since it was quite early the shopkeeper gave a good discount. Friends bought pouches caps and shawls.

Breathtakingly beautiful view of sunset. Gold & Silver shades of majestic mountains pouring out a wavy, rushing & frothy river completes the picture of a perfect sunset.
Recommended to visit in evening & witness the captivating sunset.

It is also known as Ghulmet base camp of Rakaposhi 7788 meters in Karakorum range of mountains.
We normally stop here to catch a breath and a cup of tea, some 1 hrs drive from Hunza and 2 hrs drive from Gilgit city.
The food and tea both are good.

First do eat the local favourite 'chup shoye' when you stop over to view the might peak. You are lucky if the sky is clear as usually the peak top is covered with clouds.
