If your only going to go to one temple, then let it be this one. Had I not known that it had received the Asia-Pacific Heritage Award for both restoration and revival of temple rites and festivities, I may not have bothered but glad I did. It is right by the Confucius Temple so you can do both together. There appears to be two parts to Baoan Temple. One is the main temple part and the other looks like a garden that is currently closed November, 2023. Looks like more restoration as I walked past. The highlight is the main temple which is open and at the back. Small but active. It doesn't look like a grand or striking temple as you approach it but go closer and look at the details and colours and you will see why this is a must visit.

The temple was undoubtedly one of the most beautiful ones we had ever visited in Taipei. The colors, the vibe, the exterior and interior, all of them made it be unique and worth to spend time for walking around and feeling the fresh air. The opposite garden must not be missed.

This place is huge with a number of different buildings and various altars. All of the structures have detailed, artistic woodwork and there is a lot of variety. The temple is also very active as a lot of people were praying and burning incense when we were there. We saw this and the nearby Confucius temple that is less than a block away. The two temples are quite different and we were glad that we went to both.

We were recommended this temple by a colleague who used to live in Taiwan, and we were not disappointed. This temple is old and authentic and it's less crowded than the famous Longshan temple. Bonus, just cross the street and there's another nice temple: the Confussus temple which is also worth visiting. It's easily accessible with the MRT.
