A more traditional market, in a paved area of the city quite close to the Tungtamen food market, the stalls and shops here are considerably more upscale than you'd normally find in an Asian market. It's clearly where the young and well off locals come to hang out and shop. Well designed and laid out, there's a great atmosphere but none of the chaos or shabbiness most Asian markets offer.

This is a decent night market, which also features some live music stages and some military exhibits.
The market was packed when we arrived, but the atmosphere was somehow tranquil.
The market offers mostly food, but you can also find the usual night market knick knacks.

There is a free shuttle bus going from Hualien train station (in front of tourist information) to this night market (and return every hour till late). They offer a lot of local food. Cooking is clean and good. Great for kids as they have lots of game booths around.

It was a somewhat sad visit. Lots of stalls offering everything from fresh veggie juice to skewered fish balls to target practice with shotguns and pachinko dolls... but the overall experience was somewhat underwhelming. More can be done to improve the experience and help the people who run the stalls to make a living.

My family and I went on weekday night. Only few stalls are opened. So quiet that we are probably the only visitors. We took a quick stroll and did not even bother to stop and have a bite. It's nothing typical of a bustling night market in other parts of Taiwan. Definitely nothing to compare with Zhiqiang night market at other part of Hualien.

This is what I miss most about Asia. Where the later it gets, the happier and more busy these Asians get. It's like as 2:00 am hits the party's just getting started! And I don't mean sloppy drunks at some club either. WE are talking about night markets with snacks, games, stalls, music, and best part food!

This market has a mixture of restaurants and night stalls. I recommend two options
1. If you do go to a restaurant, and you're adventurous, try out the sunfish. It's gonna look like polyps and tumors on the meat but it's perfectly fine. It's so weird looking.
2. If you do the stalls, def get a fresh made smoothie bc you'll get hot and they make it pretty natural here for cheap USD 2$ or less compared to ths 7$ ones at the mall in the US. And try all the snacks. You'll full from the noodles and veggies and whatever they have to offer.

I think this town has that nice seaside funk to it. They gave fishermen decor everywhere and even the bars are blue and underwater like.

Pretty kid friendly too you can buy games and toys and trinkets for the kids for really cheap. It's safe too. Don't worry about getting mugged. Always watch for your wallet anywhere, but pick pocketsaren't likely to hit you in such a well lit and large night market.

I've been to a few night markets in Taiwan so to me, the food in this night market is just average. I have definitely seen more and tasted better in others .
However, what I liked abt the place was that it was well Organized,
Clean and not too crowded on a sat night . And they had a lot of games and such that would be very fun for kids to play and "win" prizes in.

They are however not as cheap, a game can cost between 50 Taiwan dollars and up. And if you want the kids to get a decent price (such as a soft toy and more) , you will need to spend more (I suspect).

Good to come here once and once would be sufficient .

Popped by this market (aka Fu ding night market) on my last day of stay.
It is new, by far the most tidy market i had seen. There were different sections selling different type of food. Other than the typical dishes you could find across TW, do try some dishes made by the Aborigines such as BBQ sausages, BBQ Mochi!
For food wise I still prefer the smaller night market (zhiqiang) overall.

We visited this night market on two different occasions. First was one of the main nights over 10-10 holiday weekend, and it was packed! Second was one of the nights after the weekend. And what a difference in the crowd sizes and even in the # of stalls open. In general, this night market is very organized and clean. The food selection is also good. The prices are a bit high considering that it is Hualien (not Taipei). And it was relatively relaxing to stroll through this night market given the space and organized nature of it. BUT, I can't say that anything we ate was spectacular or that it was remarkably different than other night markets in Taiwan. It was just okay.

Apparently this night market is the newer one of the 2 in Hualien.

Average night market... nothing much to talk about here. Would recommend going to the other night market in Hualien instead.
