This street is quite straight forward in the sense that it is one straight street. Both sides are lined with eateries shops and shops selling nice snacks. Their signature food around here is the duck and dried tapioca.

Taiwan has numerous of these “old streets” lined with shops and stalls selling all kinds of local food stuffs. Preserved, fried, pickled, rolled etc etc. Sweet, sour, savory, You name it, you surely can find it too. It’s always so enjoyable just taking a slow walk down these “memory lanes”.

Our guide recommended this place, he told us to try their duck at one of the shops famous on this street. It was just a short street with stores selling mostly food on both sides. The famous shop had a limited menu, nothing much to try, we took a few dishes, paid and looked for a table on the second floor as the shop was full during lunch hours. It was nothing too outstanding, but other people seemed to enjoy themselves. We went with beer, chowed down the dishes. After a meal, walk along the street to burn some calories or grab a dessert on the way before leaving.

Nice traditional old street that sells traditional Taiwanese food and stuff that is so missing most street markets in Taiwan. Lots of traditional food to eat and buy. The street is wide and not packed with people. You can have a leisurely stroll, savour the atmosphere and try some traditional food.

Famous by the special street food at Temple Entrance , like every villages in Taiwan, there are also lots of delicious meals and special hand crafts here. Even along with streets at Jinsan town , there are other tasty food waiting for travelers' discoveries. Combined with hot Spring and tourist attractions around , this street is certainly a good pose.

We had booked a tour guide for the day and one of the places he recommended was the Jinshan Old Street area - he had planned it such a way that we would arrive around lunch time. He had told us that the most famous cuisine there was the duck meat.
The duck meat restaurant first started at the Kuang An Temple and soon business became so good that they expanded to a few other locations within the old street. And they expanded the menu to beyond just duck meat.
The restaurant does not have a menu... yup, no menu. They cook, you choose and you eat what you pick. The way to do this is to first get a table at one of the few shops they own which are mostly within 50 metres. Have someone at the table to reserve it while the rest go pick out the dishes. If it is just two of you, you may have to share tables. If you want to sit at the ground floor, you'd have to wait. Each shop has 3 levels so you are better off going up to look for a table. Once settled, go pick out the dishes at the stall just in front of the temple.
The dishes come out fast and furious - cooked fresh and placed on the table for you to select. After selecting, you bring the dishes back to your table - a new definition of self service. Of course the most common dish everyone goes for is the duck meat.
The duck meat is tender but is not braised like the Singapore Teochew version - in fact, it probably is cooked in water and ginger to keep the taste clean. The variety of dishes were great. The other dish we liked was the pig's stomach stir fried with the peas and baby corn. In fact, most dishes were good.
Each dish (other than the duck) is fixed priced NT$180 if I recall correctly. The price for a plate of duck ranges depending on the part you choose. The lady tending to the shop will calculate and charge you at the end of the meal.
After the meal, continue the walk along the old street and check out the stalls. My wife ended up buying a cap from one of the stall there. Reasonably priced.
And during the months of May and June, the watermelons are in season - super sweet and super huge! We managed to find a stall just outside the old street selling watermelons. Another great eat after a hefty lunch.

It's a short street but good enough to explore on a short street. Juicy duck at the temple with mouth watering stir fry yellow noodles are must try. The crispy paper saseme pork jerky at A Yu although is less crispy and thicker than those sold in Taipei but is barbequed on the spot and packed in zip lock which is fresh and fragrant and to my own liking. The caramelised sweet potato is yummy. After much sampling and eating, a slow walk and hike (turn left and keep walking towards Jinshan visitor centre)at elephant mountain (appx 1 hr slow walk) makes the trip there enjoyable.

what's interesting in this old street is the duck stall which is just in front of the old temple main gate. how the local cut and cook the duck meat in front of the temple. their dining table is located just opposite the temple. it is 3 storey where first storey is just equipped with fan the 2 and 3 rd storey has the air conditioned.
pick your own vegetables, meat and drinks. and you only pay once you finish your meals. very crowded during lunch time 12-1.30 p.m but you don't have to worry as they provide enough seating.

Came to this place during my day tour with Taiwan Pockets and I quite like it. It is popular with locals, yet not flocked by those huge groups of tourists. It is and Old Street, where you can see alot of food and souvenirs. But I liked the atmosphere cos it feels more local (not touristy). We were brought there to a restaurant where we just pick the dishes and bring it to the tables a few shops away to sit down and eat. Super delicious! On top of that, it is not too pricey. Bought the sweet potato chips and some other snacks back from here. Yummy!

Lots of vendors with similar items as the night markets. Several food vendors. My favourite was the Peanut/ice cream roll. There are two vendors, and tried both! One uses ice cream and the other uses a 'sherbert' like ice cream, both equally nice!
