The Grand Hotel is so much a part of the social fabric of Taipei that it is easy to forget that the Grand Hotel was constructed following the Retrocession of Taiwan to the Republic of China (ROC). It was established in 1952 and completed in 1973. The Grand Hotel's name in Chinese is "The Great Rice Hall on the Round Mountain." In the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945) the site was the highest ranking Japanese Shinto shrine in Taiwan.. The Grand Hotel is said to have excellent feng shui. Many VIPs have passed through the Grand Hotel; a gallery of photos can be found on the hotel's first floor. The roll-call of VIPs who have come to dine, visit and stay is extensive. It's worth noting that the Grand Hotel hosts some of Taiwan's most sumptuous restaurants.

We stopped at this place as part of a tour around Taipei. It is a nice place for a short stop to take some pictures and have a look around. There are many dragons in the hotel, mainly as decoration. One person once tried to count them all. Take some pictures. depending on the time of day, the sun might play a role in getting some good shots

A must visit. There is a historical section that shows all the people that came, visited and stay. Grand architecture. If you have seen Eat Drink Man Woman from Ang Lee, it is filmed here.

I was just amazed at the whole experience from the drive into the hotel from the main gates to the interior of the hotel. I was lost in words with the luxury service we received. Quality of food was outstanding too. It is a must to see this hotel interior too.

This is not just a hotel but a piece of Chinese history . It has a museum on the ground floor and has many priceless treasures to view . The room is big and the view is central . Its different from staying in western hotel like Hilton or Marriot . THe dining rooms are huge and the garden are big . If you ask the staffer there you will find many interesting historic facts about the hotel and also the VIP who hasd stayed there like QE II , US presidents , etc.

The hotel was so beautiful; Asian inspiration everywhere. It was nice to wander around and enjoy a drink right by the lobby. I do not think it it worth taking much time to explore but it was a grand thing to see. I ordered french fries (don't judge-I was craving a salty snack!) and they were prepared perfectly and quite enjoyed them with my Manhattan. People watching was definitely interesting--lots of great moments to view people taking gobs of selfies! :)

It's a small museum housed in 1 room on the 2nd floor of the Chi Lin Hall. Mostly photos that document the rich history of the history of the hotel. There are few hotel artifacts on display like a dining table. The most interesting are a set chairs made for an over-sized guest. Worth a visit if staying at the hotel.
