Set in a tranquil setting, it was a good way to spend about an hour exploring the small grounds, cafe and souvenir shop.
Unfortunately, the season for lavender was over though they did have some in a tiny garden near the shop.
Entry was $200 each but you can redeem the entry token for $100 off any purchase.

My family and I really love this place and go there every time we visit Taiwan. It's a beautiful place to take pictures and buy/try lavender-flavoured products. The ticket value can be used to offset your purchases. The staff who work there are also very friendly and helpful!
But one should note that the souvenirs there are a little pricey. Do also take note that the place is very inaccessible and one would need to book a taxi or drive to this area (don't recommend the latter unless you have experience driving in Taiwan, the terrain is quite rough).

Tip 1: Entrance fee is 200NT but elderly visitors can enter for free. Tickets also include a 40NT free voucher which you can use at the gift shops or in the restaurant.
Tip 2: The cottage shuts at 6.30pm but it also depends on the weather forecast. If the weather is good, they will open until 7.30pm for fireflies-watching. If the weather is bad, they will shut at 6.30pm.
Tip 3: we arrived very late at the cottage so we didnt end up doing much. We went to the restaurant and had dinner. The food was very westernized. It was not suitable for old elderly chinese visitors. The price of the food is very expensive as well. Overall i would say that the food is very fresh and innovative but it won't be able to cater a lot of old elderly chinese visitors.
Tip 4: how to get there? This is such a huge problem if you are planning your trip from Taichung City.
Basically the only way to get to the front entrance of the cottage is by taxi.
From Taichung main railway station you have to catch the Fengyuan coach bus. Do not take the railway to Fengyuan because it will not help much with the distance. The coach bus will take you to 中興嶺. Before you arrive, ring Lavendar Cottage and they will give you a bunch of taxi cab numbers to call. The taxi company will arrange a taxi driver to pick you up at 中興嶺 and drive you to the cottage and one-way ride is 500NT. Also be sure to tell the taxi operator that you would like a driver who can drive safely. This is because the roads to the cottage are bendy mountaineous roads, you would not want anything unpleasant to happen to you. We got a reckless driver and nearly got caught in an accident twice.
Also bring some travel sickness pills if you cannot deal with bendy roads.
And when you get there, ask the taxi driver to wait for you until you finish the tour. And they can send you back but it would mean another 500NT dollar charge too.
Tip 5: enjoy the view of Lavender Cottage and have a cup of tea. They do Lavendar milk tea as well. The nicest thing about Lavendar Cottage is you can smell the lavendar everywhere you go.
Tip 6: They also gave us each a postcard to send to ourselves at the end of the fireflies tour. According to them, they will post the postcard to us by next March, we therefore put down our friend's home address in Taichung because we won't be going back to Taiwan for the next few years. The postcard allows the recipient a free entry to the Lavendar Cottage.
Tip 7: The fireflies tour is a must because they will bring you round the park and see all the fireflies. It is very suitable for families with young kids. Be sure to bring some clothes to cover your skin because there might be a lot of mosquitoes during hot summer night.
Tip 8: Overall the customer-service in Lavendar Cottage is pretty good. They really respect their customers and hope that their customers will enjoy their trip here. Highly recommend to everyone
One very interesting thing is the ladies toilet. There is not window covered or wall covered for the sitting cubicles. See pictures

We stayed one night at Lavender house in November. There are only a total of 4 rooms, rate is at NT3800/room for a weekday. Communication for room availability and other enquiries were through their Facebook page. I wrote in English and they replied in Chinese! Good thing I was able to read Chinese alittle. Other travellers may need to use goggle translation for that.
I was very impressed with the Minsu (B&B). Firstly we were greeted warmly by the housekeeper who also helped my mum dragged her hard case luggage up slope all the way to the Lavender house. Not easy as I was panting for breath dragging my own hard case luggage to the Lavender house. One thing to note: do travel light if you are staying here! The Lavender house was located at the back part of the attraction. Along the way, the housekeeping chatted with us, trying to point out the places we can explore after we were settled in. There are a beautiful common living, dining, kitchen area at the Lavender house. The kitchen opens out a nice balcony with greenery. Nice homely touches were felt everywhere, like a giant teddy bear at the sitting area, DVDs, and books for guests to select, herbal tea and the welcome herbal water offered to us when we checked in etc etc. The room itself looked new, was clean and cozy too. We had the Mint room. As explained by the housekeeper, this room has an additional lounger next to the bed. Free wifi with good connectivity. I was able to chat via Line without any disruption. Very happy with the room except there is no heating or air conditioning and there is no TV. Not a big problem for one night stay. Fan was provided but of course it was not used. The room was on a slightly cold side during our stay but still manageable. Dinner and breakfast were included in the room rate. The housekeeper immediately showed us the menu and we selected our main course. I had the Roasted chicken with honey and rosemary. Mum had the beef stew. Both served with rice. Dinner was served at one of their cafes. It was really dark after dinner when we tried to find our way back to the minsu. So bring a touchlight or install the touchlight app in your mobile phone.
Movie can be played on a projector in the common living room on first come first served basis. We paid for the room in cash upon arrive. Breakfast was served in the house itself. Quite a delicious healthy breakfast consisting of salad, wholemeal bread, egg roll with ham and vegetables. The attraction opens only at 10.30am. Hence the guests are able to walk around the grounds of the Lavender cottage in privacy before that. Me and mum woke early and walked around the herb garden and drink tea. Very relaxing indeed.
The attraction itself is like a small theme park. As we were guests at their minsu, we didn't pay the entrance fee. We were given a discount voucher to use at their gift shop. It was the starting of the Lavender season (Nov-Apr), hence the lavender we saw was sparsed. Don't expect fields of lavender there. Nice touches again with little swings, benches, cute corners for guests to rest or take photos. The main attractions are the Lavender garden, carousel, wishing tree and the indoor maze. Try to allocate at least 2-3 hours there to just relax in the park. There are a few cafes overlooking the greenery with alfresco seats. I tried the Lavender ice-cream, not bad but the lavender flavour was not there. There are two nice gift shops around the park. There are picnic food packages that you can buy and enjoy in the park. Very good idea indeed! I love picnics!
Overall I would highly recommend anyone to visit and stay one night at their minsu! No regrets there!

Went on 14 Nov 2014.
Took us quite a while to get there from Fengchia as it's quite deep into the mountains.
But I felt it was really really worth it. I could spend at least 2-3 hours there, just relaxing and doing nothing.
The entrance fee was TWD100 per adult, and they didn't charge me for my 6yo child. You will then be given 2 TWD50 vouchers which you can use it to purchase food or gifts.
There was a musical horse carousel which cost TWD50 per ride. You can purchase the ticket at the cafe near the carousel. I bought a ticket for my child, and was then invited to take the ride with him foc. It could be that it was a really quiet morning and my child was the only "rider".
I tried the Lavender ice cream (TWD50 for a cone). It tasted quite nice to me but my child hated it.
You can also get a wish card from the cafe. Write down your wishes and go to the top of the hill to tie it to the wishing tree.
And another thing I like about that place is that the toilets are really really clean!! They have alcohol spray to sanitize the loos if you need. I think they were also burning lavender essential oil around the area cos the toilets didn't smell bad at all.
The souvenirs were quite reasonably priced. They had those dried flowers pouches going at TWD50 each. Bought another type of scent pouch, a wishing tube (with real lavender flower in it) and a pack of sweets. Cost less than TWD250 after deducting TWD100.
I would definitely go again. And will stay overnight at the place if possible.
Really magical place.

We hired a driver when we were in Taichung last week (3rd March) and we made this our last stop on our tour (see Carton king and Xinshe Castle). Be warned that this place is really out of the way and took quite long to reach. It is lovely to visit but I would seriously advice against staying here as it is VERY far from town. But it was WORTH it when we reach. As we were there around 3.15pm, the place was not so crowded. The whole place was in fog and it looks so mystical. There was a field with lavender flowers as well as some cafes and restaurant. Be advised there the whole place is on a hill so you will need to go up and down slopes to reach the lavender fields. Do buy and have the Lavender Ice Cream and Lavender Milk Tea. Lovely, use your coupon to offset the cost. Enjoy the scenery while sipping the hot, lovely tea. Haha. We stayed there till it grew dark and I think we are one of the last few to leave, Haha.. Really worth visiting if you like natural scenery and flowers, not for shoppers thou..

The entrance fee was 150 NT per person and you would get a coin each. You can use the coin at their stores and get 100 NT off.
As it was already late afternoon, we decided to grab lunch first before visiting the attractions. Lunch at 森林咖啡馆 was a very relaxing affair. We were surrounded by forests and mountains as we enjoyed our lunch.
We ordered a Lavender & Pomelo Tea 薰衣草香桔茶 (NT$170). It was a refreshing citrus drink with a hint of lavender.
As I was feeling unhealthy from the previous night of snacking in the night market, I ordered the Mushroom Hotpot (NT$360). The soup was light and the guilt of eating all the deep fried food instantly fell away (who am I kidding). There were different kinds of mushrooms in this healthy hotpot, which was served with a bowl of purple rice.
To end the meal, we ordered an Orange Upside-down Cake with Rosemary (NT$100). This was a butter cake with orange rind in the cake. It was decent but nothing to rave about.
The 年轮邮局 is my favourite. A wide selection of whimsical postcards is available. You can purchase the postcards and the staff will help you send the postcards (no additional charge, for international addresses as well) in whichever way you want it. It could be today, a month later, 2 years later or 5 years later. You could send it to yourself, your family or if you want, not send it out at all and keep your inner thoughts a secret forever. There is a table with colour pencils, pens and colourful tapes for you to write your postcards.
We then proceeded to have our ice cream fix. There was a selection of ice cream, including lavender, berry yoghurt, mint chocolate, lemon grass and rose. My husband opted for the lavender flavour and said that it was pretty ordinary.
You can also redeem a free drink (with a marble in it) per ticket.
One should not come here with the expectation of seeing beautiful lavender flowers because they will be disappointed. There is a board which states that lavender likes cool weather but is afraid of the rain. However, as Taiwan's summer is hot and rains often, they have other purple flowers to replace the lavender between May and September. The lavender is supposed to be in full bloom between January and February.
That said, I think one should not expect much even in the peak blooming season. The lavender patch is rather small and will cause minimal excitement, if any. That said, it was nice to just breathe in the cool air at the higher altitude.
Our last stop was the souvenir shop, which of course sold lavender products.
I felt that my trip here was worthwhile not because of the lavender, but because how this place makes me feel like life can be slower and that we can take our time to be one with nature.

We hired a taxi to bring us to the Lavander Cottage, which was a bad decision. The driver was reckless and unfamiliar with the roads which were mostly narrow winding and single lane. Due to the many wrong turns, it took us way longer than expected to reach the Cottage. Although this was an attraction, we now learned that not all of them are familiar with the route.
After we arrived, there was no way we were getting back down with the same driver. Luckily the lovely staff at the entrance managed to arrange another driver for us. Unfortunately, we only had an hour left. We had a quick meal at the restaurant overlooking the forested area which was pretty and serene (much needed after our harrowing experience).
Had about 10mins to spare after the meal and we did a quick walk up to the lavandar hill. I was disappointed with the Lavandar hill which were not blooming (we were there in Dec). We also didn't manage to get to the lavandar ice cream shop that was recommended by other reviewers.
Overall, if you have the time and managed to get a trustworthy driver, it should be a nice drive up for a lovely afternoon. Aim to arrive early so that you can enjoy the place at your own pace.
Note: You should start your journey down about 1hr prior to sunset.

Went for a short day trip to this Lavender Farm with my partner.
Please note: the trip there is super long and arduous. Roads were often dangerous and very out of the way. It was quite funny that there were many road signs telling travelers not to give up.
The farm however was really quite gorgeous. Nice smelling and frankly very therapeutic for us city dwellers.Stayed at the farm for about 2+ hours.
Lovely place with plenty of flowers. However i felt it was not big enough and a tour around it could be done in an hour or two (Unless you want to hike out). They also have afew eateries and restaurants where you can rest your legs. I had a great snack of lavender ice cream and sea salted fries. GF bought quite abit of products from their gift shop.
Definitely a recommended pit stop if you have a driver for taichung trip. Do take note you take a super long time to reach the place as it is quite out of the way. Admission is rather cheap and you can encash as vouchers for their restaurants and eateries.

Our driver told us : 紫色的梦想被商业化了 (The purple dream has been commercalised) . For anyone who knows the story of this lavender cottage is familiar that this little purple paradise is the dream of two ladies who give up their city jobs to realise their dream of living a simple rural life growing lavender and brewing coffee... We were also warned by friends not to expect a purple field of lavender like Provence. Hence, we went without much expectations. Nevertheless, we enjoy spending time getting outselves lost tracking in the nature, taking countless photos and getting stamps on our map! Despite being "commercialised", this place still feels romantic with its lawn full of lavender in bloom.. A good and laid back place to chill... To add on, the food served at the cafe was surprisingly palatable... Do try a scoop of lavender ice-cream... its quite good!!! On the whole, we find this place worth a visit if u have time to spend...

I am planning to visit Lavender Cottage 1st week of February, will I be able to see Lavender flowers in February?
Written December 1, 2022
Hi carmentravelsworld, how did you get to Lavender farm from Taichung station?
Written November 27, 2019
I think the place is relaxing for the elders. However, they won't be able to reach the places that requires a little walk (like the area of the bell and place where you write a wish on a leaf shaped paper). But don't worry, there are several places that they can enjoy there to relax and take photos :)

is there any smoking areas around the cottage ?
Written March 3, 2019
Hello! Dont recall have, but you can smoke around the cafe area. near the carousel. no park rangers around to stop you or watch you, so I guess it's fine.

I plan to go here around end of april 2019. Will i possibly get to see lavender in full bloom?

May I know what is the estimated time spent in Lavender Cottage?
Written December 24, 2018
Me and my friends stayed there for around 1 hour and a half (1.5 hour) to take photos everywhere. Aside from picture taking, we take our time in the wishing place there :)

I want to go there with my fiancee, is there any cottages or small houses that we can book for a weekend?
Written December 13, 2018
I am not familiar if they have cottages. I only saw shops and landmarks where you can take picture. I don't think they have that facility.

Hi! I'm thinking of visiting this place but the prices for the tour are too expensive and the public transport methods of getting there seem a little confusing. I was wondering how much it cost to hire a driver, and how did you go about doing it?

Hey. So sorry. I hope my response is not too late. Our driver + guide Shoun charged us 3200(NTD) for the whole day. He picks you up from your hotel and drives you around the tourists spots you want to go to in Taichung. Here's his # +886932569603 He is almost always booked so message him as early as you can.
