    Taroko Gorge from Taipei
Wonderful sceneries of the Gorge. Travelled there from Taipei with a private driver and guide. Highly recommended day trip from Taipei. Leave early. Benson Chen was our driver. Friendly and courteous. Highly recommended.

    Stunning Scenery & Engineering
This is a stunning set of natural features of narrow forges where you can close up to the rock faces and overhangs. The views up and down the gorges are amazing. There are several relatively short trails that are easy to walk (some are closed after previous rockfalls). The Nine Bends and Swallow Cave trails were very good, although on the former you're partly walking on the side of the road where traffuc is coming through. The other impressive thing is man's ingenuity in building these tunnels and walkways under and through the rock overhangs. A must-see/ must-do.

    Great one day tour
I booked a one day shared tour via Island Life Taiwan. It wasn't cheap but we visited all the main attractions. Turned out to be one my best one day tours in Taiwan.

    Fantastic scenery
Taroko Gorge is one of Taiwan’s most interesting and scenic areas. We parked near the Shakadang Trail Head and walked along the river Shakadang for about 2 km where we had a picnic of street-food sausages which were being sold at the point. The path was cut into the side of the steep cliffs that form the gorge by the Japanese in 1940 as part of a system of damming the river to create hydro-electric power. We saw some stunning scenery, including rocks apparently made of pale gold, water of a rich colour owing to the minerals, interesting forest vegetation, an egret and a monkey. We were with one of the tour companies, but I'm afraid I don't know which one as it was booked for us by others.

    Can use the bus!
Natural marvel. You can spend all day there, although the tour buses arrive around 2pm and the crowds can ruin the ambiance slightly. Of note you can do this by bus without much hassle - the buses arrive about once and hour (although not always to schedule) and they take the Easy Card used in Taipei.

One of the Most Beautiful Places I've Been To
Taroko Gorge has been on my list of places to visit for a while and it did not disappoint. Taroko Gorge was one of the most beautiful places I've been to. The dramatic cliffs, clear water, and stunning landscapes all made this national park one of my favorites. I did a tour here and hiked a few trails and visited a couple attractions. Everything we did was stunning. Highly recommended!

    It gets better every time
When the water is running high, it works well. To be honest, walking is the greatest way to see Taroko Gorge. Admire the marble, sculpted over eons by the sea and polished to a brilliant sheen. Naturally, we owe a debt of gratitude to the veterans for ironing out the wrinkles and making Taroko Gorge what it is today.

The best national park in Taiwan with a lot of hiking opportunities. Prepare to spend at least one day here. The most notable easy hike is definitely the Baiyang trail with a lot of tunnels. My favorite scenic spot (next to the road) would be the Nine Tunnels Trail. We took a bus from Hualien here and always rode it on a day ticket while moving from one hike to another (250 NTD).

I have traversed Taroko Gorge three times and it gets better every time. It's best when the water is running high. Honestly, the best way to experience Taroko Gorge is on foot. You can marvel at the marble, crafted by the water over many, many years and polished until it shines. Of course, all credit to the veterans who straightened out the kinks and bumps so we can enjoy Taroko Gorge today.

2,5+2,5 hours drive from Taipei to Taroko National Park. Really worth to do this Tour. Beautiful and colorful Canyons , Rivers and marble cliffs. A full day tour in a wonderful semi-tropical Nature . Our guide and driver Hicks, very professional, helpful and friendly person, leaded us in special places from early morning till late in the afternoon. We strongly recommend this tour!

This gorge is really impressive. At the moment, only narrow time slots are possible due to construction work, so tourists crowd the paths at the side. But the view into the depths and to the dizzyingly high bridges is fantastic. It is worth walking along the edge of the gorge for as long as possible, even if the buses driving past on the side are a bit of a nuisance.

We planned our tour during the May holiday. We came across our wonderful guide Tonny who picked us up in Taitung and as he was born there, he really knows his way around that part of Taiwan. We then took the coastal Highway all the way up to Hualien and he took us to some wonderful scenic spots along the way. Once we arrived at our destination, he showed us the night market, which has ample options of yummy food. The next day we set off early to Tarako national park, where our guide showed us wonderful areas before the big tour buses arrived. We then took the Shakatang Trail, as well as the Xiao Zhuilu Trail before the rain set in. All in all we had a great experience with Tonny and would highly recommend him if you need a private tour along the East Coast with an English speaking guide. You can just add him on WhatsApp on the following number: +886 916 993 938

Hired a car and driver to take us around Taroko Gorge. Tony, our driver/guide did an awesome job in bringing us around the gorge, told us what to look out for and helping organise the itinerary. Highly recommend hiring a private car to bring you around this beautiful place. If so, highly recommend Tony. His contacts are as follows:

Incredible landscape. Breathtaking views. Interesting shrines and temples. Plenty of different walks to try. I would rate this alongside Monument Valley and Yosemite National Park in terms of scenery.
This trip was recommended whilst we were in Taiwan and it didn't disappoint. You can get a train direct to Hualien Station and then hop on a bus from there which takes you all they way up to the top of the gorge stopping at various locations along the way. The train takes about 2 1/2 hours each wa and the bus another 90 minutes so this is a full day of travel. Definitely worth it if you have the time on your visit.
There are tourist centres, restaurants and shops at various locations if you need refreshments during your trip.

From the swallow grotto, crystal clear blue waters, and tall marble cliffs, this is truly a special place.

Very glad I visited and wish I had another day or two to visit some of the other sites. While it was raining when we were there, it did not dampen any of the sights or views.
