I appreciate the effort put forth by Keelung citizens to paint a few buildings in bright, attractive colors. (Keelung needs a little love.) What I don't get is why anyone would go out of their way to see them.

Nice place to take photos
Quite accessible by bus from the main station
Buses in Keelung generally do not come often
Probably a place to go if you have a whole day
Probably not that worth it if you are rushing for time (Need to wait for the bus another time)
Alternatively, take a bus that goes past 中正路
Check the route on Google Maps first, most would drive past the colourful side of the harbour
Plausible alternative for those who only want to see it (Not take photos)

I was walking BACK from Heping Island & 2 temples & I saw the colorful houses, cafes & restaurants, so I came over to take a photo BEFORE I catch the bus back to Keelung City.

It's worth a quick stop for photos. The colorful buildings add some vibrancy to an otherwise plane small harbor.

Unfortunately for us it was a national holiday in Taiwan and the traffic was a bit bonkers. But once the bus got parked it was lovely. Cute place. Definately recommend

Zhengbin fishing harbour was built in 1934 by the Japanese. It was the biggest fishing port in Taiwan during the Japanese era. Now it’s colourful buildings are an attempt to draw tourists.
Only worth visiting if you are touring near Heping Island Park. These buildings definitely attracts attention.

Actually this place is one of the nice places around north Taiwan, but they arranged to painted the colorful buildings for attract more tourists to come for photos, it makes a little down for it. It could be better if there’s more more local ambience and less tourists.

It is called "Taiwan's Burano Island". It is difficult to see at night, so it is recommended to visit during the day. Keelung Station is the starting point. You can access it by local bus.
