Me and a group of 5 other friends visited the elephant sanctuary as a part of a weekend excursion whilst volunteering at a nearby game reserve. The elephants all ended up at the reserve as human interference meant that they could not survive in the wild. We took three elephants out for a 'walk' which is where you hold their... More

Thoroughly recommended a trip here, if you've ever dreamed of walking with elephants then its a must! Clearly the staff are so knowledgeable and have a special bond with the elephants. The talk after the tour was really interesting and you can see what a good job they are doing there. Highlight was definatley walking "trunk in hand".

The Elephant Sanctuary is the home to a small group of elephants who have been abused or otherwise need some extra care. What we found out when we booked a "Walk with the Elephants" experience was that some of these elephants now make the Sanctuary their home. Each has dedicated handlers who have a special bond with them. Our guide... More

The hand in trunk walk was probably the best experience of my life. While I still prefer seeing this animals in their natural habitat, this approach to them was educational and amazing. The handlers seem to care about the animals and they appear to be treated well.

I thoroughly enjoyed our visit here. The guide was very knowledgeable. We were allowed to walk the elephants, they hold your hand, so sweet. They were very gentle and with the guides you felt very safe. They have 5 elephants in total so we took it in turns and at the end were allowed to feed them pumpkin. An absolute... More

We booked an elephant ride, a fantastic experience one that we will never forget the keepers are very passionate about their elephants and their welfare. The elephants have all been rescued and are unable to be returned to the wild. The sanctuary get no government funding and is purely run on donations and support from visitors. Free tea and coffee... This is a very highly recommendable experience for either locals or international travelers. The elephants are young but quite content & amicable. While they have been trained they only do what comes as natural behaviour for them. The keepers are great people that take good care of visitors. If you have an appreciation for these animals I would definitely take... More

This is a difficult place to review, and I was in two minds about visiting. Whilst I found the experience of touching the elephants and walking with them 'hand in trunck' over a very short distance a special moment, I did also feel like the elephants were a little exploited and just 'going through the paces', especially when they had...
