The ladies doing the tasting were unfriendly and un-informative. Did not even bother engaging with us about the wine. We were the only couple there, so no excuse as they were certainly not busy. Another couple arrived and bought R600 worth of wine. When the lady asked to taste the Chardonnay, they wanted her to pay for a full tasting session. I feel this was very short sighted of them. They could seriously just have given her a taster and possibly made an extra sale. Won't go back there again. Usually when purchasing wine most wine farms waiver the tasting fee... But here! Was a very disappointing experience.

We were met on a very quite Friday afternoon by a lady behind the tasting counter who was not to friendly or seemed to interested in being helpful.
We were recommended Slanghoek by friends and the info centre and were keen to taste the wines. We were unceremoniously told tasting is R20. We inquired that if we purchased wine would we still have to pay. Yes was the answer.
Next we were told that some other person would assist us. Same story. We walked out.
So Slanghoek would rather loose a potential customer for R20 having endured COVID lock down.
We are a mature couple, had spent time at other farms in the area, not one having charged for tasting and had so far bought 7 cases of various wines and sure we would have bought about R700 worth of Slanghoek wine.
Come on management, catch a wake up, train your staff to use discretion and drop the tasting charge if wine is purchased, that’s a basic sales pitch.

This small cellar will definitely surprise you with their selection of wines,Jerepigo’s,their Ruby and their grape juice.Take a wine tour or enjoy the breathtaking view of the mountains. Also one of the cellars that is a must visit on the Soetes and Soup festivals. You wouldn’t regret it
