It was a hot day in September. The hike to the fall is long and sunny, with no real fall at the end of the trail. We saw two eagles flying high in the sky, but that was it. We are not sure when in a better season to visit.

Gamla Nature Reserve on the Golan Heights is one of the best places in Israel. You can find a variety of tracks in different difficulties from easy stroll around the reserve fit for families with baby strollers to a hard decent to the old Gamla town. This reserve also offers great view of one of Israel's eagles nesting areas and... More

This site is the Masada of the Golan in Northern Israel. Unfortunately, if you arrive later than several hours before closing, you will not be allowed to hike to the settlement and the archeological site - a huge disappointment having come so far. Never the less, we were able to hike the level trail across the top to the see... More

Beautiful scenery, waterfall, griffin vulture sanctuary. Great hike to ancient Jewish settlement of Gamla which has important history. There are quite a few dolmens on the waterfall trail.

Remarkable ancient site with a Roman styled rock amphitheater . In the area there are vultures of a specie not to be found elsewhere. Although visits in the summer heat can be taxing , it is well worth the visit if one is in the Golan. Views in the area are something to see. Best to have a guide. Seymour

We came to Gamla at the end of October after the very long, very hot summer season. Sadly the earth looked scorched, brown and yellow. We visited the eagle observatory, and despite the scorched look were very impressed by the awesome landscape of this nature reserve. We saw the Ancient City of Gamla off to our left with its small... Much smaller (and less crowded) than Masada the site is no less impressive. The archaeological site, the vulture look-out and the walk over to the waterfall are well worth the trip. If you haven't got a head for heights at all, then you might not want to explore all parts of the archaeological site.

It's a historic site, it is a nature preservation site, it's a walking trails site, it's beautiful! Don't skip this when you visit Israel.

There are trails to walk and an archaeological site where we learned about ancient life in the Byzantine period.

The vultures soar overhead in the thermals as you walk in this park. There are three main options - the shortest visit (with wheel chair access) is to see the vultures. However it takes about 90 minutes to walk to/from the waterfall - a wonderful sight but slightly uneven path. You need to allow more time to go totally the... More
