We were here during a Ring of Kerry coach tour. I was a bit skeptical about paying extra for this attraction at first, but it was definitely worth the 5 euros. First we were presented all the different types of sheep, then the actual sheep dog show started. Very impressive and a must-see. There was enough time to take photos... More

I was here in 2000 with my dad on a bus tour, so when my wife and I went to Ireland, I knew she had to see it. She loved it, and it was even better than I had remembered it to be. We even got to chat with the shepherd after the demonstration of his amazing dogs. Great for... More

Besides the torc waterfall, my favorite thing on the ring of Kerry. Cost 5€. Worth it. See well trained dogs round up the sheep. Very interesting. Shepherd educated you on the many types of sheep and answers any questions. Do this definitely!! It's an easy drive from Killarney and most busses on ring of Kerry stop here too.

This was probably the single greatest highlight of my trip to Ireland. If you go to Ireland and are in the Kells area, definitely stop in and watch Brendan Ferris at the Kells Sheep Centre. You will leave with a new appreciation for just how well a dog can be trained. Fantastic!

Initially, I agreed to do this because everyone else in my group was doing it. So glad I made that decision! Brendan is completely in tune with his dogs. He gives remarkable insight into what goes into training these beautiful dogs. This was a highlight along the Ring of Kerry.

During our coach tour of the Ring of Kerry our tour escort asked if anyone was interested in stopping at Kells - we had seen 'One Man and his Dog' on TV many times and were not sure if we would see anything new. We were mistaken! Despite many visitors - some whom English/Irish was not their native tongue -... More

This trip is my twelfth trip to Ireland. I've done a lot and seen and heard a lot but this day on the Ring of Kerry was one that goes into the delightful category. I tend to want to stay away from the touristy experiences so when Tony our CIE driver and guide suggested we stop for this experience, I... More

Brendan Ferris is a master sheep and people herder- given the crowds who come to see him, he has to be. A slight wait for the previous group to finish up allowed us time to observe a variety of sheep up close just doing their own thing. The different varieties and colorations were interesting. The dogs assisting Brendan were energetic... More

This was one ofmthenhighlights from the ring of kerry tour. I was cynical to start with and am very glad we took this intermission from the tour. Mine host Brendan Ferris is a very knowledgeable shepherd and knows how to work his dogs. Worth a visit...

This is certainly worth the time to stop and be educated about 14 different species of sheep, some used for wool, others meat and another just to make his presence known. . Then a fascinating demonstration of how the border collie dogs control the sheep in moving and separating them as requested by the master. The dogs really WANT to... More
