Decided to try this beauty instead of our favourite a few miles away and were not disappointed. In fact the beach is split in two by rocks and one side is quieter than the other!

But very poor and slow service in the only beach restaurant. Helpful nice French woman gave us info to go somewhere else if we wanted to eat within 1.5 hour.

5min away from grande Anse beach where there are way too many people. Its so beautiful; a large beach with golden sand and hardly anybody there. It's a gem.

This excellent beach is situated halfway between Deshaies and Ste-Rose. It is right by the road and easily accessible, with good parking. Although there are warning signs about swimming, it was absolutely fine when we were there. There were few other visitors, possibly because it was mid-week. Apart from having a good swim, I enjoyed walking the full length of the beach, to the left, my feet benefiting from the very fine white sand.

There are warnings of danger at this beach but we found plenty of people, children included enjoying the surf. The waves can be hefty as there is a drop off a few feet in, but great for body boarding or simply riding the waves. The beach is typical in that the back of the beach is lined with mangroves which provides both shade and cover from the rain which seemed to appear for a few minutes every hour or so. The locals are used to retreating to the cover and wating out the short bursts. There is a bar provding food and drinks, not particularly friendly, but has everything you need in that department. We would make this the #1 beach destination simply because it is about 1km long.

A must if you like big waves!
Sandy beach. Lots of crabs on the shore.
Cafeteria at the beach and on the very shore is also highly recommended despite very very slow service; the food was very good; fish costed 14eur with salads, rice.

Firstly, the NAME of the beach needs to be clarified. On all the maps and info. material in Guadeloupe, it is spelled as I wrote in the title above and is CLUGNY. As most of you must know French is the official language in Guadeloupe. Cluny is likely the phonetic form of the name in English. Worth a visit or two or at least a stop on the way.

It is totally unspoiled with no commercial development on the beach. No umbrellas, no chairs, no ice cream stands, no vendors etc. There is a tiny cafe/restaurant on the eastern end of the beach but it is hidden in between the trees and several yards in from the beach and not even visible.

The sand is pure...No rocks or even pebbles. Water is clear...no weeds. And it is never crowded. Mostly families are scattered over the beach. They take shelter under the trees bordering the beach and separating (also hiding) it from the highway. The east end of the beach gets more people as it is close to a parking area. We parked on the western end where the shoulders on both sides of the highway are wide enough to park a car safely and in the shade.

Watching the waves and hearing them were magical. We first noticed it as we drove but did not have time to stop but afterwards did go there twice just to spend a few hours on this pure natural beauty. It is about a 40 minute drive from Le Gosier, depending on the traffic.

WARNING!!!
According to the locals and some publications the currents are very dangerous here. So, be careful ...you are at a beach on the ocean after all. Do not underestimate the power of the waves and the currents OR do not over estimate your own physical capability. Do not leave children unattended, PLEASE!

We were visiting the Guadeloupe garden and on our back way we enjoyed this beach. The beach is very beautiful and clean, the sand is really thin and different than on the other part of the land :) Because of the voulcan you have the chance to see black sand :)
It is a nice place for the beach, clean with the beautiful view.

We were staying in Deshaies and weren't particularly keen on the Plage de Grande Anse as there were too many people there for our liking. We got into the car and drove towards Sainte Rose. En route there are several almost deserted beaches which are incredibly beautiful. The Plage du Riflet and Plage de Cluny are very accessible and you feel like you could almost be on a desert island. We walked the length of these beaches, entirely alone. Romantic, scenic and pristine, they were a highlight of our stay.

We were staying in the area and we drove past it many times without seeing the real beach. Then one morning we decided to head straight to the first southern part. The beach was a surprise: deeper than expected and very long and what was fundamental for me, there was no one, in the distance I could barely see 4/5 other figures, but really far away, to the point that there were no problems for the full tan. I think it's not always like this, but it was enough for me for the time we spent there. I can't say anything about the sea because these days, going around numerous beaches in various locations, we have always found waves and rough seas.
I recommend this beach to those who don't like crowded areas
