Stunning River

When driving along River Baker we simply couldn't resist stopping alongside it and taking loads of photos as the colours are simply breathtaking.

The best river for trout fly fishing in all of Patagonia ! The whole river has spectacular views, clearest emerald waters, forests surrounding, and the Patagonia Bake Lodge to enjoy a week of fishing and relaxing.

From Puerto Betrand, along the Carretera Austral, about 20 km south is the "Salto del Baker" and the confluence. On the road side is a sign and gate. From there it is 10 min walk down over a private property (for sale). On this walk we saw the smallest owl of Chili/world. The very blue and clear water from the... More

Truly the most awesome river in the world! The color of the water is a vibrant aquamarine blue, and the power and size of the river mesmerizes!

The 'confluence point', where the deep-green/blue Baker River streams into the Chacabuco, is a spectacular sight. From the Carretera Austral it is about a 20 minute walk to the viewpoint.

The Rio Baker is beautiful from start (where it forms from the effluent of Lago Beltrand) to its end at Caleta Tortel 150 kilometers to the southwest. Throughout it has a distinctive green hue. The highway (Carretera Austral) is unpaved and not always for the faint-hearted, but in many places it closely follows the river and you will want to... More

Beautiful blue glacial water, that is so pure you can see through it! Coming from a desert region... the amount of water in the Baker River had me awe struck, and mesmerized. The surrounding scenery was equal in comparison beautiful views, and vista everywhere you look.

The Baker is such a gorgeous river. Fun fishing, although best with a boat. My spouse did a raft trip which he enjoyed. The kids and I just hung out at the Casa Del Rio Konaiken cabins (near Green Baker Lodge - I can't recommend these cabins highly enough - absolutely fabulous and a great deal: new ownership - phone:... Wild and beautifully powerful. Turquoise vibrant colour. Also well worth visiting Caleta Tortel where the river ends.

I'm not a fishing person, but if I were, I'd linger at the Baker for ever and ever. It is an unbelievable turquoise color.
