Worth to see!!
We were there in December - the rice fields were full of water - the sunrise was mirrored in the water.
Must be very nice as well in other period.
Enough space to see the sunrise (but this might have been caused by the Covid year).

Wonderful sunrise here. The viewing platforms were very busy but it as beautiful and worth getting up super early to watch the sunrise here.

We had to wake early in the morning and leave at dark to reach this place and didn't regret at all to catch breathtaking sunrise scenery of the first light reflecting on paddy field water with the background of thick mist.

The sunrise from Duoyishu terrace is absolutely beautiful, but it is impacted by lots of loud tourists, annoying cameras and even more annoying and louder drones. So it is actually no fun anymore to watch the sunrise from here.
The better way is to rent a room in close Pugao village where you can have an as well unobstacled view of the beautiful area in a much quieter environment. Most of the hotels in Pugao have roof terraces from where you have a great view and don't have to wake up so early, as it only takes one minute to get from bed on the terrace ;)

Same as other people:
- Get there minimum 30min before sunrise to secure a spot (buses start pouring thei load of people within 30min of the sunrise). once everyone's there it's a bit of a noisy and messy place.
- The setting is very well done with a small parking (otherwise it's china so just park along the road) and multiple platforms. 90% of the platforms are unsused, people staying at the top one where the view is the best (as you go down some trees get in the way). If you get annoyed with the pushy people just move left to the empty area of the top platform.
- Drones are allowed but be careful because many have drones. I've seen up to 6 drones in the air at the same time. And people don't speak English so there's no way you can agree on who flies where. Also, make sure you register your drone so you can fly further than 50m.
- I did not have clouds so only a partial reflexion of the sun and some dark grey and blue colours like on the photos. Since the terraces are in a valley, it can get a little fogy as well.
- You can also see the terraces from nearby villages if this is where you're staying. A lot of accommodations have rooftops for you to see the terraces.
- Count to be there for a good 2-3h. There's no chair to sit unless you take yours.
- Not sure about the bathroom situation. The platform is on top of a restaurant but I'm not sure when it opens

The paddy field is closer compared to others, so you could see so much details from a distance.
Many will come for the sunrise. By 6 a.m. most of the "good spots" at the lookout point already occupied by the fellow photography enthusiasts. But it's worthwhile to wait as the sunrise view is magical as you can see the ray of lights unfolding the paddy fields layers by layers.

To get to the Duoyishu Rice Terraces, you must choose an accommodation (if it is an option for you, better choose guest houses, or hostels, as they are often nearer to the center) that is quite near the area of the rice terraces, so that it will be rather easy for you to go and have a “quick trek” to see if it’s doable. If you are planning to choose an accommodation at the peak of the mountainside, or near the city center, it’ll be better to have a vehicle rented out to take-and-fetch you during your rice terraces trek. Long distance buses are available, but not recommended, unless you have someone with you who can speak their language.

TIP: If you are visiting YUNAN, CHINA --- As a travel blogger, I am very keen on getting that experiential adventure of a place. I decided to reach out to ZOMYA.CO CULTURAL TOURS to help me undergo an off-the-beaten path kind of Yunnan Province. Highly recommended, especially if you do not speak any Chinese language, but want to get that less touristy kind of China travel. You can search them here at TripAdvisor too: just search for Zomya (Kunming). Good luck and enjoy!

Sunrise is a must do and watch the magical change of the terrace . Do go early to 'reserve' your spot. There were tons of photographers and i had one asking me if I could move aside for him. We stayed at 12 Manor and the receptionist was really nice. She knocked at our door 5.30am to tell us that it was the right day to do sunrise and has informed the driver to come pickup at 6am. Best service ever!

Duoyishu is one of the major attractions in Yuanyang. It is ideal for watching the sunrise. You may need to be lucky and patient with the cloud because the terraces can be unveiled when the cloud clears from time to time. It is so breathtaking!

Another view from the other side of the Rice Terraces in Yuanyang. Opposite the Tiger Mouth Terrace. Beautiful sunrise. You feel so wonderful and peaceful with nature.
