This place is a bit remote but well worth the visit. I was expecting unsealed roads, but the road access was actually sealed.

Well marked track which isn't difficult as there are SO MANY people there. Car park was full, difficult to get a park, but once you are there, views are worth the drive.

A bit of a drive to the car park and a walk after that but well worth it. Be sure to do it if you are in the area.

The first day upon our arrival it couldn't be more foggy but we stayed at the campsite near Nugget Point and saw the lighthouse and amazing "nuggets" the day after. One of the best landmarks in the South of New Zealand, a must do spot! Binoculars recommended - home of the seals.

Nugget Point builds its fame on penguins and sea lions. They usually love sunbathing in this isolated spot in the early morning and late evening. We unfortunately had no chance to see them because the weather was horrible. Kaka Point is a small town and a perfect stopover headquarter for visiting the more famous Nugget Point instead of Balchuta. Kaka... More

To get there you drive along the coast from Balclutha and the road gets rough and rougher until you are sure it can't get worse. Then it gets better. There is about a kilometer hike over to the lighthouse. Great views along the way, you can hear the seals barking down below on the rocks and see gannets and gulls... More

Great place to visit on your trip, as it offers stunning views of the cliffs, lighthouse and seals. The short walk is definitely worth it!

The walk has amazing views scattered along the way you will need to keep your children close by and hold their hands when walking in some sections as there is no rails and it is a sheer drop over the side. You would not go to this location specifically to see the Sea Lions as they are a long way... More

Really nice view and that's about all but what else you need? We came across the place by accident and had no expectations and were stunned by the view.
