Neighbourhood: Odaiba / Shiodome / Shinbashi
Odaiba is an entertainment hotspot with a giant ferris wheel, concert halls, amusement arcades and lots of shopping. It also boasts Oedo-onsen-monogatari, a hotspring that recreates old Edo-era ambiance and is very popular with foreign visitors. Shiodome has ultra-modern office buildings where you can often find restaurants with a great high-rise view of Tokyo. The neighboring area of Shinbashi is a district of much older commercial buildings and it's a great place to join 'salary men' enjoying a drink and snacks at street stalls under the railway bridges after work.

- Mauricio SRio de Janeiro, RJ473 contributionsVery fun and good attractions.A mini amusement park. Lots of simulators, with 3D activities, and a really good roller coaster. One annoying thing is that some attractions are about writing and reading and, for those who don't speak Japanese, it's not possible. There is a restaurant with little food, but you can have lunch. The funny thing is that even the men's bathroom has interactive toys.Visited March 2024Travelled soloWritten March 11, 2024
- woodsie9Dublin, Ireland6 contributionsA good way to entertain kidsThe kids very much enjoyed a few hours in this indoor theme park. Go during the week to avoid the queues. Rollercoaster was a success. Lots of items to fritter away money on if that’s your thing.Visited March 2024Travelled with familyWritten March 23, 2024
- Abel RMiami, Florida845 contributionsI recommend this park for families or teenagers who want to kill time.Joypolis is an indoor theme park. Although the place is small, it has many fun games and rides. Most are competitive in nature which adds more excitement for those who always seek a friendly challenge. They have an entry ticket and a day pass option. With the entry ticket you have to pay for each individual ride. We went on a weekday and basically we had the park to ourselves.Visited April 2024Travelled with friendsWritten April 29, 2024
- Khiem H1 contributionLots of fun, if you are willing to queueYes there some good rides/ games in there, however, like everything popular in Tokyo - there are QUEUES! (upto 60 minutes sometimes, and this ain't even Disneyland or Universal Studios). There's also lots of pay arcade and claw machines. If you have patience and time, this could be a good outing for you (for me, this was towards the end of my Tokyo stay, and I had had enough of all this queueing)Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten July 19, 2024
- Nathan W14 contributionsSuper cool place to see a next level arcade gaming and amusement park hyrbridIf you're into seeing the next level of arcade games this is where to go, more so than Akihabara these days. Don't worry about English translation, they give out a pamphlet that say which activities require extensive Japanese and that was only about 7 of the 25ish they had available (none of them mainstream ones). My highlights were the games that could rotate physically in almost any direction, as well as the thrill ride and gaming hybrids. Also included was a no latency VR game, mystery games, simulated fantasy coasters and many more. Spent nearly 4 hours here and kind of wish it was the whole day.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten August 31, 2024

We spent the good part of a day at Joypolis. We had purchased passport tickets in advance, but given the length of the queues, we didn't get much value from them. We went on the live rollercoaster, which was fine, short and a little strange. I spent a lot of time in a queue for the cafe, before giving up and venturing out into the Decks building (the good thing about your Joypolis is that you can come and go as you please for the day. Found some great food options at Decks with no wait time, and better deals too. I only wish I could say the same for the rides. After walking around the other rides and looking at the wait lines, we decided to give up. After leaving, we booked weeknight passes for Disney Sea, and had a much more successful time on some great rides!

I happen to be a big fan of theme parks and thrill rides and I know some people are very scared of the intense rides!! I took my mom and grandma on the Harry Potter ride at Universal and they both got very traumatized by it and didn’t go on any rides the rest of the day!! I had an off campus trip here with Temple U Japan and I went on a ton of thrill rides!! I did a few upside down rides and also one which was a jungle stimulation!! I enjoyed all the rides and was thrilled by some of them!! They had a cafe on the third floor and also an ATM and currency exchange for us American dudes!! It was a very good time!!

Strolling around Odaiba on a rainy day we found Joypolis and spent all afternoon there. You can pay for specific attractions or for full day. There are some VR, arcarde, etc. there’s even a small roller coaster.

We visited Joyopolis on a rainy afternoon to kill some time. Thankfully it was late afternoon so it wasn’t too expensive and I said to my husband just to pay admittance rather than unlimited. Rides. Mistake was entering. Not worth the hype at all. Huge queues, machines you have to pay to use despite paying to enter. We had been to Round 1 Stafium earlier in the day and all loved it. Head for Round 1 Stadium (loads of fun but no rollercoaster rides) skip this complete rip off.

This place has the potential to be so much better than it is. We went during the week hoping that the queues would be smaller. Previous reviews here stated that buying the all rides ticket wasn’t worth it as you can only go on a few rides due to the amount of wiring and don’t get your moneys worth so we decided to just pay admission and then pay for the rides we wanted.
When we got inside it wasn’t that busy at all and as we arrived before lunch we decided we should indeed pay for the all rides pass, which turned out to be a big mistake. The amount of waiting time had very little to do with the number of people in the queues. The place is hugely understaffed and rides and activities were empty for long periods of time while staff fussed around doing very little. Explaining safety issues multiple times while no one is on the rides or games is a waste of time, and after hours of queuing really annoying, as this could be done while you’re in line. I’ve never been anywhere so badly run, which was very frustrating. Despite being there for over 6 hours we completed 5 activities. Instructions in English were very poor and therefore after queuing for nearly an hour, once you get to do the activity, you’re not sure what’s going on and it’s over before you’ve figured it out. If management are reading this, please please please train your staff better and put more on each ride / activity. As it is currently run, don’t waste your time and money coming here.

At the end of a two week tour of Japan, my three children were cultured out. Joypolis was supposed to be a treat for them. It cost £90 for the 4 of us to buy an all day pass and with 5 hours to spare I thought it would be a great afternoon for the kids. Well it was an absolute con. The place was so rammed we only managed to go on three rides and none of the thrill seeking ones. The queue for the one rollercoaster was over 3 hours, the tag laser two hours and everything else about 90 mins. There are only two actual rides and the rest are all simulators. Rightly so, the rides have stories that are all in Japanese so it's very difficult to follow. The walk though ride, which we queued for for 90 minutes, was so bad it was laughable.
If you do go I suggest paying the entrance fee which is small and then paying by ride. I wish we had chosen Round 1 at Diver as it looked much better. Also the timings online are wrong. Like all the attractions in Japan, it closes early and last admission is 7pm.

I was looking forward to visiting Joypolis to experience the advanced technology that Japan is known for. We paid for the unlimited pass for both of us - big mistake. The lines for anything interesting were 1-2 hours wait, so it was impossible to try more than 3 attractions and get something to eat. Would have been much less expensive to just pay for the attractions individually. As for food, there were only 2 types of sandwiches available and 2 types of pizza (both overpriced as you are captive), and even with this simplified menu, the time to line up, order and get the food was more than 1 hour.
We noticed that there were several shortcomings in the process of managing the attractions, which caused the wait times to be long.

We came on a rainy day, which was a poor decision. Bought a passport, another bad decision. The line management is the worst I have ever experienced. We are waiting in ridiculous lines and the ride capsules sit empty for several minutes after the previous riders have left. I definitely suggest buying a couple of individual tickets before committing to anything.

What’s the point in the place being open until 8PM if there is literally nothing to do after 6PM? The word “scam” springs to mind when a “night pass” is effectively void as soon as night STARTS.
This IS in the fine print if you are the type to read EULAs, but how is a theme park “open” if there are no open rides, eateries and even the arcade machines, most bafflingly, stop accepting credits?
A damned shame because the rides we did manage to fit in were actually very enjoyable but the overall experience left a bitter taste in our mouths.
The place wasn’t exactly deserted either, the rides were being filled right up until the end, so you can’t point to low footfall either.

there was a girl crying from the VR ride haha it was so scary. the indoor rollercoaster is definitely the highlight. there's a ton to do but it does add up if you don't buy the day pass where you can just ride unlimited times, etc. so much stuff to do in that building too, food, shopping... leave all day! you can use it all there!

I have a 3yo and 8yo. I think my 8yo will have a lot of fun at Joypolis. But I am worrying about my younger one. Is there anything to do at all for my 3yo? Thanks

I’m going by myself, would that be a problem? Also, does the staff speak English?

Hi, can you please advise if age 6 yrs of height 115cm be able to play majority of the games as i understand the suitable age is 7 yrs & above?

hi- would this Joypolis be a place to go for Arcades? did you pay enterance fee only and then arcades are each extra? my sons do not like Rides but they likes Arcades- how many hours can I plan to stay there with them?
thanks
Written July 8, 2018
You have several options for the entrance ticket. The staff in front of the ticket gate normally will explain it clearly. As for me, they offer me to take a look first, so I just bought the entrance ticket only. If you bring your passport, they will give you a discount too. When you want to upgrade your ticket into one day pass or just to buy rides ticket, you can use the machine inside the park. I don't think the rides will suitable for kids. Mostly for adults.
They do have arcades and my son (6yo) enjoy it. So, if you just want to try the arcades, maybe just buy the entrance only. I didn't plan to stay long there, but we end up stayed there for more than 3 hours.

Hi all, I am curious to know what is the waiting time for the rides? I see some reviews saying it takes 10min to wait for the rides but some reviews mentioned 30min wait. Is there a better day or time to go for lesser time spent on waiting for the rides?
Written June 16, 2018
Hi. I've been to Joypolis twice with my eight-year-old daughter. As I remember, we went on weekends (but not holidays). The waits were not that bad - yes, 10 mins at the least, 30 mins at the most. It really depends upon tourist traffic, whether locals have a holiday, etc. Generally speaking, it's always better to go during the week, and close to opening time.

Hi
Is there any weight restriction for the rides ? Do you think an overweight person would be able to do most of the ride ? Thanks
Written July 25, 2017
No restriction and yes, none of them are too intense that weight would affect the ride or the rider.

I would have some questions need your kind assistance
1. Passport Admission & Rides included Yen4,300, which rides is included ? Doesnt stated clearly at their website
2. By reading the post , Yen4300 doesnt include most of the rides? But i understand that zero Vantency VR need advance booking and extra payment
3. And what is the normal entrance ticket which we only pay for what we like to ride?
Written April 5, 2017
1. They aren't "rides" as much as they are games (save for the top floor) and you should have access to all of them (keyword being should).
2. I don't understand this question fully. The VR segment is its own area, thus that's why it may require supplemental payment; again, its a game, not a ride. It was closed when I went so it may still be now (doesn't matter).
3. Doesn't exist; you pay for a ticket that allows only a certain amount of "credits," to be used or you get the unlimited credit pass. If the former is what you're referring to, then that is a little over half the price of the full ticket. At least it was when I went.
