I'm an experienced hiker, but some of trails are VERY narrow and require free climbing. I never made it to the ladder, but my husband did and said it was worth the climb. I hope to attempt it again someday.

I was conflicted about what star rating to give this. 1 star or 5 star? Did I love this or absolutely hate it? Both! On one hand, it’s the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life. On the other, I feel so proud of myself for doing it. Let me warn you though, the warnings at the bottom of the hill are not a joke. I saw pictures of little kids doing it and the steepness did not look that scary in pictures so I thought the warnings were overly cautious. They are not! How people bring kids up this, I do not know. It is absolutely terrifying. It is basically a vertical climb with sheer drops to the bottom. I was sweating, shaking, freaking out the entire time. That being said, it’s rewarding when you get to the top. I couldn’t believe I did it! I am petrified of heights. This is for the adventurous person. It’s beautiful and a challenge. But do not be fooled. If you are not physically fit, don’t attempt. Do not bring small children or pets. Take the warnings seriously. It was legit the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life. If you love to climb (bc that’s what it is - not really hike), are physically fit, and an experienced hiker, you’ll probably enjoy this. It’s super dangerous and really scary, but the sense of accomplishment I felt afterwards was wonderful. But I probably wouldn’t do it again lol!

A bit scary but seriously gorgeous views and a sense of accomplishment after facing the fear of falling off... Great spots on the way up to just enjoy the glory of Acadia. Would definitely do it again and hoping to try Precipice Trail next time.

This is an awesome hike included some advanced level sections on Beehive. The views are worth the hike and it is only a short drive from Bar Harbor.

I did this trail during Labor Day weekend with a group of friends and all of us enjoyed it a lot. The views along the way are definitely amazing. Maybe you’ll be a little scared of the height, but trust me, the view of the ocean and all those trees is worth it. We are not professional hikers, so this trail was a little challenging. We weren’t used to climbing on iron rungs like we had to. Sometimes we also had to climb rocks, but it wasn’t too hard. If I can give you advice, I’ll tell you to buy appropriate hiking shoes. Some of us were wearing inappropriate shoes and we had some issues, like slipping on the rocks. Another piece of advice that I’d give you, is to wear pants and not shorts, we ended up getting some rock burns during the climbing. Since the trail was pretty crowded and we took more time to finish it than planned, we decided to have lunch on the summit, which was a great idea, because we could spend more time admiring the beautiful view, so if you have the chance, you can do the same. The trail back to the bottom is pretty easy and well marked, so you probably won’t have any trouble on the way back.
