From Bar Harbor, it takes over 30 minutes to drive here. Along the way, you will pass Echo Lake. it's not that popular so less of a crowd. in the fall, I did not see anyone here except us... yeah, in summer, it could be fun...there is a small beach, changing rooms, and calm water (its lake).

Fall colors were very pretty, with reflection in the lake making it more beautiful. Secluded but great!

Parking: Ample parking there-no issues with that.

Echo Beach is a wonderful, sand beach leading into clear, clean cool lake water. The beach has flush toilets and changing rooms. The changing rooms were very handy after a hot sweaty hike on the nearby trail. I love this beach!

We had been hiking the nearby trails and could see the beach. We decided that we wanted to try out this beach. There is plenty of room to park.

Beaches in Maine are very different than the ones we are used to in Maryland. That said, there is a nice stairwell and wooden walkway to reach this lakeside beach. With room to lay out our towels and set up spike ball, we had an enjoyable few hours.

Be prepared for cool water, rough sand, and lots of lake grasses. Just set your expectations realistically and you’ll have a great time.

Note: You cannot take your kayaks or SUPs into the water here. Find a nearby boat ramp to do so.

quite good, less crowed than sand beach, so you won't have problem in finding parking space, our kids playing water in the beach, they have fun.

Echo Beach is a rather small beach in a cove surrounded by cliffs and trees. It is quite pretty and worth a visit. There were only a handful of people the day we were there. The beach has restrooms (with flush toilets) and changing rooms.

Cold clear water that was amazing to see. It was late September and only about 6 people were there. It was after the 15th so we took our puppy and he loved splashing in the water.
The scenery almost does not seem real with the huge cliffs overlooking the water and being reflected back as a double image. It would be a great place to bring your beach chair and a good book

So happy we decided to stop at Echo Lake today. It was a scorching August day and was great to cool off in the lake.
There is a sand beach as well as a grassy area to sit. Bring chairs, umbrellas and some floats if you’d like to relax in the water.
The water is clear, comfortable for swimming and shallow! Our 8 year old was able to walk almost to the edge of the swimming area.
There are changing rooms, bathrooms and faucets for washing the sand off your feet.
The scenery is also of course, spectacular.

Echo lake is located very close to the Acadia Mountain Trailhead on Route 102. It is located very close to Southwest Harbor. This place is perfect for swimming, stopping over for a lunch or a snack and has picnic tables. The parking lot is huge unlike other places in that region. When we went in July, the water temperature was good to dip your toes in them. Not sure about swimming. There is a sandy beach area but has quite limited space. This place is perfect for taking some scenic pictures. I would definitely recommend for a quick visit.

This is the first time that I've seen Echo Lake so quiet and I loved it. My husband and I visited Acadia in early May off season to avoid the crowds and it was a good call. We almost had the beach to ourselves. There was a family picnicing and an older couple on beach chairs and that was it! Of course the water was too cold for me to even wade but I enjoyed the peace and quiet. I looked fondly at the big rock to the right that I loved to sit on in warmer weather but I considered it a good trade off--solitude for hot weather and crowds. On season there are changing rooms and restrooms. People are swimming or wading. There is another place where you can put in your boat. It's a great place for family fun or as in my case, off season, solitude and peace with the only sound the waves lapping the shore. Heaven both ways.
