As soon as you enter Badlands, there is a parking area with three easy trails: Notch, Door, and Window. That is how I would rank them. Notch is the best of them and includes a sloped ladder climb to get to the meet of the hike. After this, you will be hiking in some shallow canyons leading up to a... More

This is a flat hike up until the wood ladder. The ladder is not as steep as it looks until you reach the last few feet. It was 100 degrees and sunny when we were there and be warned - that ladder gets hot! The wood is hot and the metal is even hotter. But it was fun. Be careful... More

This was surely a trip of a lifetime to see everything here. You won't regret going at all and all ages of the family will enjoy everything, because it has something for everyone. So, if you are thinking of going, please don't put it off, you only have today, tomorrow is not promised!

Not difficult, although will need to be reasonably energetic and not afraid of heights. It's a quick and fun hike that puts you in the middle of some fascinating terrain. Enjoyed it.

This trail was so much fun. There is a bit of exposure as you are walking along an edge, but my 10 year old did just fine. I love that you can walk anywhere in this park, it makes exploring more interesting. It's windy at the top, watch your step and have a great hike!

During our visit to the Badlands we did the fossil trail and other exploring at some of the view points but our favorite was the Notch Trail. It is a challenging hike with little shade so bring lots of water. The log ladder is fun and our 5 and 8 year old did just fine. Once we made it to... More

Perfect hike for a short visit to the Badlands. It branched out to a Y with 2 view areas. Not crowded. Hot and dry when we hiked, looks like there is a small waterfall if it rains. The ladder was interesting, not bad if you take your time.

This is a must do hike if you can. The views from the top are incredible. Very cool that you get to climb a ladder in the middle of the trail. There are some difficult parts on the trail.

Took my teen to this one and turned out to be their favorite part of the entire trip. A must see to climb the ladder and get to the breathtaking view. Not for the faint of heart but soooo worth it.

several reviews warn about the trail being strenuous or warn people who are afraid of heights. We found this to be very easy and not all worrisome in terms of heights or falling. The cable ladder begins nearly horizontal and is only about 45 degrees at its steepest.
