The drive with observation stops is wonderful. Everywhere you look you can't believe you aren't on the moon. The formations are all beautiful and the history is so interesting. The colors of the rock change and we saw bison, sheep and prairie dogs. This park should not be missed.

This is one of those places that you can't describe and pictures just don't cut it. This is an incredible place. Take the time to get out and hike around along the loop road. Pack a lunch! We had such a great time.

Great place to detour off the interstate and spend couple hours & picnic. Lots to see but not much to do. Got to see the bighorn sheep.

I've heard stories of the Badlands for years and many references to them in cowboy movies where the bad guys get away from the law and go hide out in the Badlands. I always understood it in that context, but never had an image in my mind of what it is like. Well now I've seen it. And it's easy... More

Start at the visitor center or in Wall (nearby town) and loop the park. Plenty of places to pull off with spectacular views. You can take a well-maintained dirt road at the west side of the loop heading back up toward Wall and see bison free roaming! Big ones! Other wildlife there too. They can direct you to this at... We were on our way back to Minnesota, but could not pass up driving through the Badlands. We were greeted by a plethora of prairie dogs before entering into the park. The landscape and different geographical formations was absolutely incredible. It was really interesting to see all the different colors within the hills as well. We also came upon quite... More

Well, I am In love with the Badlands. I have never seen anything so stunning in my life. Every turn on the Loop Road changes the scenery in some sublime way. Just fascinating. Absolutely gorgeous! The gradations of colors... the variety of textures... the juxtaposition of size and shape. I was truly in awe. Be aware that there is a... More

Words can't do justice to this drive, you have to drive it. We stopped at every single overlook and stop we could pull over. At one point my son and I were the only people for miles and for the first time in his life he heard the sound of total silence, not even the wind made noise. By far... More
