Great was to really explore the Badlands. Once you are through the door you can wander and explore. The nature that survives is incredible. Bring water even in the winter.

Easy access (maybe 5 minutes to trail head from the visitor center [second big parking lot a few miles north of the visitor center]). Sighs say it'll take over an hour but it's dependent on how slow you go. You can nearly see the last marker from the start of them, but there is so much to see on the... More

We hiked this trail right after breakfast and practically had the trail to ourselves. We had a beautiful clear day and thoroughly enjoyed the hike and the 360 degree views of the Badlands. It reminded us of our hike down to the base of Bryce Canyon in that you really felt you were “within” the rock formations and experiencing the... More

As soon as you enter Badlands, there is a parking area with three easy trails: Notch, Door, and Window. That is how I would rank them. Door trail is flatter and more simple than Notch. You are walking on flat land with increasing deep crevices around you. It gives a different perspective of Badlands walking above these slot canyons instead... More

Worth a short stop to walk a bit. VIEWS are incredible. The day was gorgeous. The park is always interesting. There is something to do for everyone.

I loved this hike. It is short and you follow the trail markers across the rock formations. It is fun to find each consecutive trail marker, a little like a scavenger hunt. It was 42 degrees when we did the hike and the temperature was perfect and there weren't very many people.

All of Badlands National Park is beautiful, but don't miss the door trail ... it's an easy walk on a boardwalk, with an almost as easy, short off-boardwalk trail. You'll think you're on another planet! ...but, remember to "Watch for Rattlesnakes" ... I didn't see any, but you can't miss the posted sign :)

This trail is easy to navigate via a well-defined boardwalk. You can also venture off the trail but use caution on the steep and rocky landscape. Beautiful views and very different from other parts of the Badlands.

Just inside the Badlands entrance going toward Interior, this is an amazing place to take sunrise pictures. Be sure to take the trail back and do some exploring!!!

This trail starts off with a short hike on a very level boardwalk. Once you reach the sign that says “The Baddest of the Badlands”, you can either stay on the boardwalk for a tiny bit more, or veer off and walk on some steep rocks and carefully climb on some treacherous surfaces. There are bright yellow very clearly numbered... More
