Unique remote place, far from everything. You have to drive 60 km just to get to the visitor center. Rangers can't home every night so must sleep in the park, We spent a lovely night at Needles Outpost. Never saw so many stars in our...More

We had a wonderful hike up around Chesler Park and through Joint Canyon. The scenery is off the chart. So unusual and interesting. The park is NOT crowded and November is a great time to go as it was perfect hiking temperature.

I really enjoyed this section of Canyonlands. The colors are spectacular. Stop at the visitors center to see a list of the trails and their level of difficulty. I enjoyed Needles more than the Island in the Sky Section. We practically had the park to...More

Needles is largely empty, stupidly beautiful, has incredible hikes, and lacks the hour of traffic to get in an out like Arches. I hope you all never visit and hate it so I can have it all to myself forever.

I have done several hikes now in the Needles District. This place is like no other, and believe me as I've hiked in Bryce, Zion, Capitol Reef, Arches, and the Grand Canyon (all of which are amazing). It's as if God just decided to have...More

The Needles section of Canyonlands National Park is nowhere near as popular as the Island in the Sky district near Moab. We didn't have much time to spend here, but we would love to return. Stop at Newspaper Rock State Historic Monument on the way...More

I traveled there by motorcycle - more sensible people would have gone in an air-conditioned high ground clearance 4X4. And even then realize that if you get stuck - or damage your vehicle, recovery cost will run over $1000. Back to the scenery - and...More

Just fabulous. Take the time and enjoy this stunning drive as it winds through spectacular scenery. The Needles were pretty incredible. Just the feat of building this road through this countryside is so impressive. Be advised, there are multiple one car very tight tunnels, so...More

Make sure you have plenty fuel in tank. Beautiful drive. South part of Canyonlands is very different than Island in the Sky on the north end. Visit both if you have time. The red rock formations are awe-inspiring.Nice visitor center. We lodged in Monticello.

I recall a couple of Jeeps at the end of the road about a half mile short of the Confluence Overlook, and I don't think either was a Wrangler. The shorter the wheelbase, the better. I believe a Renegade would be okay but... More
