My husband had been wanting to do this hike for quite sometime. But reading reviews and talking to people who had taken the hike, we knew we needed a 4 wheel drive or high clearance vehicle. We finally had one this visit. The day was...More

It took us less than 5 hours for the round trip (3 in and 2 out). It can get hot in the summer. So it is advised to bring in ample water. We have enjoyed seeing the panels and the interpretation of the volunteer rangers.

The Great Gallery, I think, is the number two ancient art panel in the 'known' art panel world. The number one, again, for me, would be the Harvest Scene in the Maze district of Canyonlands. The Great Gallery is an easy, but hot and dry,...More

This is a great experience. This is far off of pavement and a decent hike but very doable. Walked where ancient civilizations walked and we created our own stories of how they must have lived. A good family experience. We did this in a Honda...More

When you take the trouble to see this panel, you will never forget it. Very few people do, so you are usually by yourself at the panel. It is so stunning to see in person, not just in pictures. Very well worth the day to...More

Went with family. Great hike. Beautiful canyon with lots of petroglyphs to see. Better if you go with the ranger-led hike so you can get closer to the Great Gallery It is moderately strenous.

Horseshoe Canyon and the Great Gallery, was an experience I'll never forget! Have a vehicle with high clearance, and 4 wheel drive, because there is 30 miles of sandy roads that you can't navigate easily or go faster than 20 miles and hour if you're...More

A 6.5 mile round trip starts with a canyon wall descent = .9 mi and 600 feet, followed by a beautiful walk up a winding canyon. Three galleries of pictographs of varying types and ages. The Great Gallery is the final stop at 3.2 miles....More
