Nice little hike, but was expecting a different view when I got to the top. The dome was interesting, but not as scenic as many of the other overlooks in this great national park.

The trail to Upheaval Home is easy and short (0.8 mile round-trip to the First Overlook or 1.8 mile round-trip to the Second Overlook). At the second overlook, you can also see into the canyon. In addition to the mysterious rock formation that scientists still...More

Happily this feature can be seen on a short hike from the park road, or you can choose to go around it on a 7.1 mile hike that wanders through many kinds of landscapes (Syncline Loop.) Beware of flash flooding and bring plenty of water....More

The hike was more strenuous and tiring than we were led to expect by the visitor centre. Beautiful and interesting views once we got there. Not as spectacular as some other places in the park.

This walk sets off uphill and keeps on going until you arrive at the first viewpoint of the upheaval dome which is stunning not to mention weird. The second viewpoint is well worth going on to although it's rougher underfoot and up and down, it's...More

Upheaval Dome looks like someone dumped a large pile of salt inside a crater. The white portion is in fact salt that rose up from the ancient ocean but there are differing theories on how this was formed. The trail is a tale of two...More
