the site is not as vast as the other spots in Canyonlands Park, but you should hike to the top just to see it for yourself. It is up to you not to get too close to the side and fall, use caution, but it...More

First off, the walk up and down from the first overlook is very difficult. If the view from the first overlook was good it would be worth it. However, as you look down at the dome, there is really nothing special to look at. The...More

One of the oddest sights in Canyonlands, Upheaval Dome is definitely worth the hike. Is it a geological enigma or a meteor strike, who knows? Overlook 1 is a short 15 minute hike from the car park, Overlook 2 is another 1/2 hour on and...More

The hike is definitely for those who are up for a more difficult challenge, though it isn't too hard. The view from both viewpoints are marvelous, and totally worth checking out.

The hike is a little much all up hill with many rock steps also. But the awe you are awarded is not to be missed.

Highly recommend going to the second viewpoint before the first, if you are up for the climb. Easy hike to the first view point but I would label the hike to the second view point as strenuous. Cool view and interesting story!

From Whale Rock, it is just another tenth of a mile. In fact, you can view Whale Rock from the parking lot of Upheavel. There are two viewpoints; first overlook and second overlook. The first is only .8 miles one way and a short distance...More

My daughter and I took this hike and it was worth the trip. We only went to the first overlook, and found it very interesting. It was an easy hike and very cool to see the crater at the end.
