It's only a viewpoint but what a viewpoint!
As well as far off into the Canyon you can also see four wheelers head off on the White Rim Road down into the Canyon which is entertaining in itself.
A must stop off on the way into Islands in the Sky at Canyonlands.

This was my favorite overlook in Canyonland. It was just stunning and so impressive. The colors and geological rock formations are worth your time to take a look and admire this natural beauty

This overlook is definitely worth at least a quick stop. A short walk from the parking lot leads to nice views of this canyon and at times you may see vehicles driving down the dirt road into the canyon.

Viewing the trail from the overlook gives appreciation for how narrow the trail was; I can only imagine how it was getting cattle moved on this trail. Easy access to view and have amazing views.

A very short walk after parking. A number of exhibit signs are informative, but looking out from the promontory is fear inducing because there are no railings and the wind is very strong. Given that, go for the signs not the view.

What a magnificent vista to tempt you as you enter the park, whetting your appetite for the delights to come. It gives you a glimpse of the Shafer Trail which you should partake in via a thrilling and sometimes, chilling ATV tour. I took my twenty-something son years ago and it was one of the highlights of our trip.

This viewpoint isn't far from the Visitors Center so you can either stop on your way in or way out of the park. The views are absolutely amazing!

Great place to view the canyon as well as the Shafer trail. The stop is right off the main road and the overlook is a very short walk from the parking lot. Definitely worth a stop while you are in the park.

Great Overlook with views of Shafer Canyon Trail as it winds it's way down into the canyon. Definitely worth a stop but I didn't find this observation point as spectacular as those further down Grand View Point Road.
