This one only takes five minutes to see and the history here teleports you to another time.I can't believe folks lived this way. Boy are we spoiled. Just pulloff route 24 at the cabin and take a few steps.

It is just by the side of the road, worth a stop to know the story of this settler family, who lived inside the small house.

Very nice little stone cabin in great location - hard to imagine a family with 13 children living there! Worth stopping by it to see the construction techniques and to try to envision the family living there.......

This little stone cabin is best photographed at sunrise when the light is best ad there is no traffic on Rt 24. Amazingly the Behunins were one of the first settlers in the valley and raised 11 children here.

Once we enter Capitol Reef NP, the first historic building we see is the Behunin Cabin. This small structure was built in 1882. There isn't much here but a sign with a little history. Still I look around the harsh landscape and wondered how anyone...More

The family that lived here a year was a family of 15. My goodness, where did they all fit? This is ONE room. It still boggles my mind that people chose to settle in this valley.

You pass right by this cabin on your way into the park, so pull over for a few minutes and take a look at this late 19th century cabin. It was home to a family of 10 -- yes ten -- for a year. If...More

Just a very old settlers cabin by the road. The story of this family and a photo is posted. We felt glad to know that they moved on after a year, this place would have been a very hard location to make a living or...More
