This place is experiencing a growth spurt as far as number of visitors and consequently the visitor center is very busy, limited parking in the lot on a weekend. The movie was well done but the theater is pretty small and uncomfortable seating.

All of the visitors centers in the national parks have film of the parks, schedules of activities and very helpful rangers. No exception, this was smaller than some but comprehensive and useful for planning our stay.

They have a good 3D representation of the park and a very good video showing the impact of water and geologic forces on the park. Excellent staff to answer questions or give good options for a more enhanced visit. Souvenir options are a bit limited,...More

Capitol Reef's visitor center benefits from being the center of activity of the park as opposed to many others which are basically just plunked down at the entrance. Most of the park's non-driving or hiking features are located in a short distance of the front...More

Pick up literature and talk to a Ranger about your visit. The setting itself is really powerful and it sets the tone foer the drive through the park.

This visitor center is modern, helpful, and easy to find. A volunteer behind a counter will answer your questions, for example about the conditions of the dirt road to Capitol Gorge Trail. The gift shop workers were especially helpful, fetching a cardboard tube to protect...More

You can drive the hiway 24 through the park and the paved portion of the scenic drive, but you can't legally drive it on non paved roads.
