Due to road construction, the West rim road was closed. Due to wildfire smoke and fire crews, the North entrance to Crater Lake was also closed.

Nice 30+ mile drive around Crater Lake. There are places to stop along the way for either photos or hiking. Vidae Falls is off this road as well. Over the past two years, there has been construction going on, so be prepared to sit for...More

We had high hopes going to the Crater Lake in late August of 2017. What a disappointment. Wire fires started in late July, and got worse by late August. From the attached photos, you can tell there was not much to see near or at...More

As the driver, the rim drive isn't particularly good. There are several hikes with lake views, which are a much better way to spend your time.

You need to stop at the pull-outs to get the views, which is a good thing to help make driving safer. The views can be beautiful as evidenced by the many photos that I've seen. Unfortunately in late August 2017, the several forest fires have...More

On the day we visted few days ago there were 3 fires raging in the extended park area and as such there was heavy smoke blocking a clear distant view and couldn't see the lovely blue colour water it is so famous for. As such...More

Crater Lake is simply gorgeous and driving around the lake is worth doing - but have patience. The area had lots of road works and rock slide repairs being done - and the crew did an excellent job given the short weather time window they...More

Great pull outs to see all around lake. Only draw backs at the time is that there are some forest fires burning. Lots of smoke obscuring the beauty of the lake. Also roadwork is. Wing done on about 6 miles of road so it is...More
