- Jordan PDublin, Ohio6 contributionsBeautiful view, popular at sunriseWe came at sunrise with our 2 kids (2 and 6). It’s a short walk on a steep paved path to the viewpoint, but should be relatively easy for most visitors. The parking lot is small so be prepared to wait and circle for a parking spot or arrive early if going for sunrise or sunset. The viewpoint is beautiful with 360 views.Visited December 2022Travelled with familyWritten December 26, 2022
- lexus_8Oklahoma City, Oklahoma12 contributionsStunning!Absolutely stunning views - for anyone with walking limitations it’s incline is easier than it looks with ample areas to stop. Bring a camera and sunrise or sunset changes the appearance greatly. Point can be easily reached by car or you can do a 2.5 mile hike from the golden canyonVisited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten January 10, 2023
- Justin PRaleigh, North Carolina4,497 contributionsGreat Sunset Views over the BadlandsZabriskie Point is a scenic overlook in Death Valley of badlands, Golden Canyon and Gower Gulch. We ended up visiting twice. The first was part of the Golden Canyon circuit hike - great views, but it was very windy so we didn't stay long. We stopped back again another day just before sunset as this is certainly one of the best places in the park to watch sunset. It's an overlook along CA-190 with a short paved path so very easy to access. We didn't make it back after dark, but I think this would be another good place for stargazing.Visited January 2023Written February 13, 2023
- tripska16 contributionsOffers incredible views of the surrounding badlands and colorful rock formationsThis stunning viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, including the famous badlands and the Amargosa Range. While the viewpoint is often crowded with tourists, it is well worth the visit for its stunning views and incredible natural beauty. One of the best things about Zabriskie Point is the accessibility of the viewpoint. Visitors can park their car and take a short walk up a paved path to reach the viewpoint, making it easy for people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the stunning views. Downside of Zabriskie Point is its popularity. The viewpoint can get quite crowded, especially during peak travel season, which can make it difficult to find a good spot for photos or to fully appreciate the natural beauty of the area. Visitors should plan to arrive early in the morning or later in the evening to avoid the crowds and enjoy a more peaceful and quiet experience.Visited November 2022Written February 28, 2023

- Shana BradleyRockford, Ohio19 contributionsBreathtaking ViewsThis is a must stop and see when in Death Valley. The views are absolutely breathtaking and beautiful. We went twice, once to watch the sunrise over the point. Highly recommend! The walk to the top is pretty easy. It’s a paved walk way. There’s a portion that does have a pretty steep incline. There’s also hiking trails that start at this location.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten November 25, 2023

It’s a must-see if you’re driving across hwy 190 through Death Valley. The entire drive is pretty spectacular in its unique views, but this view stop is special. Clear mornings are best.

Located 4.5 mi/7.2 km from the Furnace Creek Visitor Center, Zabriskie Point is probably the most famous viewpoint in Death Valley National Park. The drive from the Visitor Center will take about 15-20 minutes and brings you to a fairly large parking area, which has a vault toilet and several information boards. From the parking lot the Point can be reached via a .25 mi/400m walk up a hill (with a 49 ft/15m elevation gain) on a trail that is paved and wheelchair accessible, bit also fully exposed.
Keep in mind that Death Valley NP is known for extremes in temperature. It’s best known for its summer heat, but my wife and I visited during late January 2023 and it was very cold at Zabriskie Point, particular given the wind chill factor.
We were there for sunset and were not disappointed. You are afforded an elevated view of the badlands, with their shades of yellow, black and brown, along with the white salt flats in the main valley beyond, and when they are bathed in the golden light of the setting sun, it is indeed a remarkable sight. It was worth enduring the frigid winds, and it is experience we can highly recommend.

Even though this was our second stop, it was a breath taking experience to catch a glimpse into the eons of geological time in technicolor no less. Easy access and the walk to the point is worth every step.

Amazing and breathtaking views! A must see on your trip to Death Valley. Points of interest are fairly easy to find - follow the crowds and look for the parked cars.

Medium sized parking lot, tight, not great for RVs. Short walk uphill on paved trail (not ADA accessible, too steep), to see the vista. Worth the walk.

We are doing road trip and flying from LAX to Las Vegas and staying there for two nights. We are going to go to Grand Canyon and stay for night there and then on to Death Valley for a night before we fly from Vegas to San Fran. Anyone any tips folks??

Make sure and stop at Zabriskie's point. One night in Death valley is plenty of time. The Fry bread tacos on the Indian reservation are good and cheaper than the food in the lodge.

Beste,

My husband and I would like to visit Death Valley from 13 - 16th February, 2017. We will be driving a hired car (so no snow tyres and no chains allowed) Can the roads be snow covered? What areas of sight seeing are on cleared roads? We would love to see desert scenery with snow covered mountains. We are in our 70's and this is our only opportunity so any useful advice to make the most of our visit will be appreciated.

Usually the only snow you'll find in Death Valley area are on the high peaks. Therefore, most of Death Valley roads are accessible during winter months. You will see dessert scenery with snow covered mountains. I highly recommend staying at a hotel inside the park. We are in our 60's and stayed three nights at the Furnace Creek Ranch. Location was awesome! We did not hike, due to extreme heat during our June visit. Everything we visited was on paved roads and an easy walk to view point. Some of our favorite view points were Dante's View, Zabriskie Point, Badwater, Artist Drive, Ubehebe Crater (not to be missed, awesome!), Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes, Devil's Golf Course, Twenty Mule Team Canyon, Charcoal Kilns (beautiful ride and last 2 miles are on dirt road. No problems driving our car on the dirt road. Don't miss this, the scenery is spectacular). BEWARE - if you plan to visit Racetrace you'll have to rent a jeep near Furnace Creek Ranch. You will not make it with regular car and tires. We did not visit Racetrace.

Hi, we are going to visit Death Valley and also Zabriskie Point this August. Of course I´ve looked at the National Park Service safety tips, but I´d also like to hear from travellers, how deserted the roads to these attractions are - I´ve read that cell phones don´t work in much of the park, so what are your tips to stay safe? Thanks.
