It's off the main road, but the Drive is paved, and the views are gorgeous. While the road is winding, it was less strenuous that other National Park drives. Take the time to enjoy the beautiful scenery and changing colors.

This is a must do along with many other must do's when in Death Valley. There are several things to see in close proximity so, make it a point.

This is a beautiful spot anytime but the colors are remarkable at sunset. Truly a wonder of nature. The desert at it's best.

We passed quite a few cars parked next to the side of the road around the bend, with visitors climbing nearby hills to get better photos. If you wait and go around the corner, you can get much closer for a better view!

We decided to take this one way trip towards the foothills and found a very colorful area. It is amazing that these colors are all mixed together just like an artists pallet. worth the stop.

See this after Badwater. It's a one way drive, and you'll save a few minutes if you see it on the way back.

Driving on the one way Artists Drive, we came into view of a colorful hilly landscape on the right side of the road. We pulled over as cars in front of us did, hiked up over the first little ridge where, to my dismay, there...More

The whole trip (artists drive loop) provides a great range of pastel colours in the sands, which culminate in the Artists Palette with a a collection of the various colours in one area.

If you are going to do the Artist Drive, then you must stop here. There is a pretty steep rocky climb to the top to get the entire view, but not necessary since everywhere you look it is beautiful

I am not sure why Artists Drive is closed, the road seemed perfect to me. You can pull off to the side of the main road and walk to the area......once there, walk up to the ridge, you can look all over the Palette from up... More
