Enjoy a warm welcome and experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky...

Enjoy a warm welcome and experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky Homestead—home of Iditarod Champion, Jeff King. Husky Homestead is widely heralded as an authentic look into rural lifestyles based on 40 years of Alaskan adventures: from freight hauling on Denali to crossing the finish line in Nome, Alaska with a champion Iditarod team. Cuddle puppies upon arrival and share an intimate view of the Alaskan Husky as the team explodes from the dog yard and runs on our treadmill before hitting the trail for a training run. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a championship team and carving a life in Alaska's Interior. Hear compelling stories from the trail and see actual racing sleds, arctic survival gear and equipment used to traverse 1100 miles of Alaska's most rugged terrain.

Our 2017 tour season begins May 10th and ends on September 21st.

Special Note(s): Dress in warm layers. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a jacket, gloves and a hat. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Outside portion of this tour is approximately 45 minutes, inside portion is approximately 45 minutes.

We look forward to meeting you!

Starting off your tour holding 6-week-old puppies is bound to make you smile throughout! And it is good for the dogs, according to the trainers. Whether or not you have children with you, this is an excellent use of your time when visiting the Denali region. If you have children in tow and/or if you are a dog lover, this... More

We were picked up from the Denali Village at 8am and taken to the Huskey Homestead. Which was about a 5 min drive. Heidi was our tour guide and she had a great knowledge of the dogs and dog sledding in the Iditarod. When you first arrive you get to have cuddles with some of the puppies!! They are just... More

You're picked up at one of the major hotels in the area - if you're not staying at one of them, you'll have to drive to a pick up location. The bus ride to the homestead is fine, some Q&A with the driver. Then you're there and get to hold puppies for a minute before being herded (4-5 school buses)... More

Jeff King has a pretty good tourist operation going here. It was great to hear the stories and see the property and operation first hand. We really enjoyed helping to socialize the puppies. They have so much energy. The staff were great, thrusting puppies on you and offering to take pictures, using your own camera. I recommend it.

I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us! Puppy "socializing" is the favorite part of so many of our guests' visit, and it truly benefits those young ones. Thank you for the recommendation! Happy Trails, Carrie More

The Jeff King Husky Homestead was very interesting. You get to hold the puppies. Jordan explained everything in detail about how they work with the dogs to train them, their care, etc. She was awesome. After getting to watch them run the dogs on a giant treadmill they took us inside where another person explained how the sled works. Jeff... More

Jeff King and his staff were very professional and friendly. The tour and presentation was educational and uplifting. Learning about the dogs and how they are prepared for the race was interesting. You will definitely have a smile on your face while you snuggle with the puppies. Listening to stories about the Iditarod race from someone who actually participated was... More
