We stopped at Polebridge Mercantile and the asked what might be a cool but remote spot to check out. Bowman Lake did not disappoint! The six mile dirt road to the Lake was adventurous and it was so peaceful and remote it didn't feel real....More

the lake views transform through out the day. If you are camping in high Season (July 1 - Sept. 15) you need to be at the campgrounds by 11am ... it is always full. There is a downside of lots of people and kids. If...More

Reading the reviews of the road one would think that it was a treacherous drive full of large rocks and ruts. Even the ranger was doubtful about me driving my Prius since it sits low to the ground. But I drove all this way from...More

Bowman Lake is tucked away on the west side of Glacier and is well worth the drive. Secluded from the traffic and masses, this lake offers a beautiful beach, access to kayaking and canoeing and a campground. It's a rustic location with running water and...More

We decided to take this drive on the 4th of July. After 7 miles on dirt roads the view opened up to an amazing sight. There were a lot more people there than we expected and there are tight spots in the road if you...More

This lake is so worth the drive. It's in a less traveled part of the park. Just know that it's not on a paved road. It was such a peaceful place to spend the afternoon. There were only a handful of people there. If you...More

Beautiful lake in a less busy section of Glacier, great place to camp if you want more seclusion. Mosquitos were bad when we visited, didn't really notice them anywhere else in the park but they swarmed us here. The road is rugged and narrow, plan...More

Hello. I will be in Glacier Park this summer and would like to return to Bowman Lake after my first visit 25 years ago. I own a 2012 Toyota Tacoma, however it is not a 4 X 4. Will I be able to make it to Bowman Lake and back to Pole Bridge in it? Thank you.

I think you can with a permit. When we were there, several overnight campers were there and parked. They had windshield permits though. We were just there for the day.
