We walked the long hike there and back with 7 year olds so it's long but do-able. Once at the lake, people were getting in their undies and jumping in. It is absolutely farrrreeezing, but if you're brave enough it's worth the quick dip. You'll...More

It rained about 1.5 miles of the beginning of our hike, but the Ptarmigan Falls pit stop was a nice little reprieve. Of course once you get to the actual lake it's just gorgeous. Not as much ice as I thought there might be, considering...More

This hike was moderately strenous. It took us about 1 1/2 hours to reach the lake and it was so worth it! The water was a beautiful blue color with tons of ice floating on top. I even waded in the water to just passed...More

Our first week at Glacier and this trail was closed due to bear activity. I had planned a backup plan and on our way back the second week we were able to squeeze it in with a mid afternoon start. I felt like i was...More

Really enjoyed this hike-- Pit toilets at the top and a great place to stop and enjoy the view, picnic, etc. Some people swim, but the water is just above freezing... :-O

It's a small lake, filled with mini-icebergs. Well worth the hike. You won't see anything like it elsewhere in the lower 48.

good hike in East Glacier Nat. Park. just a bit of incline early in the hike, easy afterwards. went in June and there was still snow covering some of the trail that made for slippery walking over the snowy areas. Worth the effort. evidence of...More

This hike is very popular especially during high season. Start early around 8:30 am to beat the crowds. Dress for unpredictable mountain weather and bring food and water. Early in the season, the upper parts of the trail are snow covered so use caution.

This was the highlight of our trip to Glacier National Park, and that's saying a lot. We went in mid-July, so the weather was perfect. The very beginning of the hike was slightly challenging, but the rest was very enjoyable, with plenty of incredible views...More

There were no icebergs in the lake in late September, but the hike was gorgeous with the fall colors and expansive vistas. There are some shady areas and some exposed areas. Well worth half a day to hike this one.
