Rafting the Grand Canyon for three days or seven days is one of the greatest experiences on earth. Spending seven days in an area where you only manmade objects when you pass Phantom Ranch is a wonderful experience. During that time you raft through hundreds...More

A friend of mine recently sold a large company and asked me what is the most memorable experience from all my travels. Without hesitation it was the entire experience of rowing a Dory (wooden boat) the entire length of the Grand Canyon 183 miles, 17...More

Lava Falls is around mile 180. The rafting guides respect Lava Falls. It is not a joke to them. The head guide kissed Vulcan Anvil for good luck. We started early to have more water to go left. We scouted Lava Falls. The ride is...More

I went the last weekend of the summer, 2014. Unbelievable experience. Great camping and unreal exciting rapids. If you want the biggest rapids go earlier as the water is higher. Tour West is a great company.

Rafted with AZRA on several occasions. This ain't no Disney ride. Boatman take this water seriously because of the danger. Vulcans Anvil sits ominously above the falls where you start hearing Lava Falls. Unforgettable.

You hear the rapid way before you see it. Feel the pressure change in the air. Or is the pressure in you skull - as you pull river right and straggle over the rocks and look at the maw that is Lava. A notorious rapid....More

So fun to go over the "fastest navigable rapids in North America" - did it with Tour West rafting company on a 7 day trip on Colorado River. LOVED IT

We ran Lava as part of a nine day raft trip through the canyon, with Colorado Raft And Trip Excertions(C.R.A.T.E.). The views, the hikes, the rapids were amazing. However, our experience was greatly inhanced by the special crew that worked our trip. John, Jon, Brian,...More

The ONLY way to get to Lava Falls is by raft and then you have to take a week-long trip to get there. Kids are generally allowed on the larger motorized rafting trips. They are expensive and booked a year or more in... More
