When you visit the village, or stay in one of the adjacent lodges, be prepared for a terrible parking experience! There are not nearly enough parking spaces available in the area. There are no spaces designated for Lodge guests and the 1-way traffic pattern is difficult to deal with.

The Grand Canyon village is easy for tourists to get around in and recommend taking advantage of the free shuttle. They run every 15 minutes and loop the village. Was easy way to get from our hotel to the visitor center or the store. Plus they travel both sides of the rim so you can see a lot from the... More

The Grand Canyon Village is a busy spot, but there are shops available to get most of what you would need for your visit. There is a post office, bank, eating places, a market, gift shops, and a few historic buildings. Shuttle bus stops are plentiful here and simple to access to get you around the South Rim easily.

We were extremely lucky to have been able to stay at the Grand Canyon Village. We stayed four nights and if we would have had to drive in everyday it would have put a damper on the trip - even though there are hotels only one mile from the entrance to the Canyon. We just came back (April 2016) and... More

Felt like we were waiting for a concert. Could not hear myself think the line for the icecream was just about a mile long. There was no where to sit a rest after a three mile hike. There were that many people. Couldn't get into any of the few shops. The only good thing was the view. Would have paid... More

I stayed in Maslik Lodge to be as close as I could to the rim. I used the shuttle to visit other areas in the village but even in November it was very busy. Although expensive it was wonderful to walk over to the rim with wonderful views. I only had a couple of days so didn't want to waste... More

Go to the Grand Canyon to see the sights. This "village" is just a typical touristy stop with bathrooms, a store, visitor center, bike rentals, etc.

We stayed overnight at the rim, which allowed us to catch a sunset and sunrise. The village provided the kids with points of interest as they quickly bored of looking at the canyon from different vantage points. Hopi House was a highlight. The selection of native crafts, jewelry and books were very good, but they could have had more folks... More

Grand Canyon is spectacular. To get the most out of your trip you need to plan early and try and stay in the Grand Canyon. The food, shopping, parking is a lot like Disney world. Food is pricey and just ok. Shopping for souvenirs may be better at places outside the village. Parking is awful. Wasn't prepared for that. If... More

Lots of good views, hiking, and activities in this area. Laid out such that you don't get impacted by heavy crowds. Signage is good and good camping in the area - as well as great lodges.
