I expected this to be a very touristy stop but this is an amazing architectural wonder with fantastic views. Take the time to go inside and go up to the different levels.

We had not been to the Desert View Watchtower before. It is very different than the "main" points by to village toward Hermit's. Climbing up the tower is easy and fun. The crowds are more manageable. No crowded shuttle buses.

We drove out here from the visitor centre as the skies were darkening. By the time we to the tower there was a thunderstorm in the distance with some awesome lightening. Sadly did not manage to get a decent photo of it. The views from...More

Must Do stop on your Grand Canyon tour! Yes there are lots of people going up and down the steps of the tower, but it is worth it and the visitors move along very well. Historic, hand built tower is really something to see and...More

The Grand Canyon in itself is amazing, but this view point is the best. I love how you can see the river from the watchtower. We got some beautiful photos from here. There were quiet a few people, but not overly crowded. There's public restrooms,...More

Later in the afternoon, we visited this wonderful attraction at the east end of the park. While there were some folks, I wouldn't have called it crowded. The sights were as magnificent as I recalled 4 years ago. The pone addition was the trader shop,...More

I researched ahead of time and decided we must make this stop at sunset, and so that is exactly what we did. We pulled up shortly before sunset. There were people milling about but less so than in most other main park attractions (i.e., Grand...More

I visited the Watchtower at about 1:00 PM on June 13th with my wife who had never been there before. It was a little warm, but not hot. The entire area was rather crowded which made it a little more difficult to take good pictures.
